Answer
Supplies Required
- Paint Scraper or something else flat and hard
- Rubbing Alcohol (even better if you get the kind in a spray bottle from Walgreens or CVS)
Procedure
- Squirt or spray the alcohol on the scraper.
- Spray around where the Dashcam mount meets the windshield.
- Slowly work the scraper into the adhesive, and continue applying alcohol while you do it.
Note: The alcohol stops the adhesive from re-adhering. |
To remove the dashcam without causing damage, try one of the following methods:
Manual removal with tools:
1. Pull the mount up and away from the windshield using steady pressure until the adhesive releases.
2. To ease the process, use tools like a plastic card, razor blade, fishing wire, dental floss, or a prying tool. Slide the tool between the adhesive and the windshield to reduce stickiness.
Note: Wearing gloves can improve grip while using floss or wire. |
Heat application:
1. Use a blow dryer or heat gun to warm the adhesive from the inside or outside of the vehicle. This softens the adhesive, making it easier to remove.
Note: Keep the heat at a safe distance to avoid damaging the windshield or other components. |
Finger pressure (tool-free option):
1. Place your fingers at opposite diagonal corners of the adhesive pad (e.g., top left and bottom right).
2. Apply gentle, steady pressure to loosen the adhesive and pull the mount away from the windshield.
Note: If the adhesive pad remains after removing the mount, it can be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol or an adhesive remover. |
