Assemble the mount
1. Check the sticker to ensure the camera is facing the correct way.
2. Remove the black sticker from the mounting plate.
3. Attach the mirror mount to the mounting plate.
4. Install the camera enclosure with the camera inside. Route the camera cable through the base plate, using one of the available holes.
5. Before dealing with any wiring, turn off the vehicle and master power.
Mount the camera to the vehicle's mirror
6. Attach the mirror mount to the vehicle’s mirror.
Route the cable into the vehicle and to the fuse panel
7. Use zip ties to secure any loose cable while routing it into the truck.
8. Next, guide the cable towards the vehicle's fuse panel.
Note: There are multiple routes for this; in our case, we removed the interior door to access the fuse box on the passenger side. Aim to find the easiest path with minimal obstructions and avoid potential pinch points or areas with moving parts. |
9. Open the fuse panel and thread the cable through. Trim any excess cable to ensure it fits neatly inside the fuse box.
Connect the wiring to the fuse panel
10. Locate the 2 wires at the end of the cable.
11. Insert the ground wire into a ring terminal and crimp it in place with a wire crimper.
12. Use wire strippers to expose 1 to 2 inches of the red wire, fold it into a loop, and insert it into the "Add a circuit" fuse tap.
13. After doing that, crimp it in place with a wire crimper.
Power up the camera and wait for the software update
14. Identify a suitable ground point within the vehicle for connecting the ground wire.
15. If no appropriate ground is available, create one by using a self-tapping screw on any exposed metal surface on the vehicle's chassis. Remember to remove any paint.
16. Take the “Add a circuit” fuse tap connected to the red wire and plug it into a battery-powered fuse.
17. Close the fuse panel.
18. Wait for the camera to undergo a software update indicated by a white flashing LED. The LED will turn solid white once the update is complete, indicating that the camera is ready to record.
