Motive's collision detection algorithm accurately identifies up to 99% of severe collisions. In rare cases, extreme impacts can disconnect the Vehicle Gateway (VG) or Dashcam (DC), preventing video upload. When this happens, a collision event is not generated, and Fleet Managers may miss critical safety insights.
Potential Collision Alerts bridge this gap by notifying Fleet Managers when telematics data strongly suggests a collision, even if video is not uploaded.
Note: This feature requires a Motive Dashcam and Vehicle Gateway. For more details, contact Motive Support |

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: How does Motive detect a potential collision?
A: The system analyzes telematics data, such as speed, G-force impact, braking patterns, speed and direction of rotation, etc. along with video recall failed signal, to detect potential collision.
Q: Does a Potential Collision Alert mean a crash has happened?
A: Not necessarily. These alerts indicate a high likelihood of a collision, but they are not confirmed due to the absence of video evidence.
