    Introduction

This article outlines the implementation of the API for Dashcam Camera Control, enabling customers to turn off all cameras (road-facing and driver-facing) via a secure API.  When this mode is active, cameras are completely powered down, meaning no video is recorded and no AI processing occurs.

This feature supports a variety of customer needs, including vehicles used for both personal and business purposes, as well as cases where vehicles enter areas where recording is not permitted. Customers must invoke this API with full awareness of the operational context for disabling recording.

    Dashcam Camera Control API Overview

Dashcam Camera Control API allows customers to toggle camera functionality entirely off or back on using a secure API. Once activated, the dashcam is completely shut down (no footage is recorded), and no AI works. This setting persists across ignition cycles and device reboots.

This feature is designed to support:

    • Drivers switching between personal and business use.
    • Scenarios where local laws or facility policies prohibit any form of recording.
Note: It is the responsibility of the customer’s application to determine when to activate privacy mode and ensure it aligns with their internal policies and regulatory requirements.
