Introduction
The Dashcam Control API enables users to toggle all camera recording (road-facing and Driver-facing) on or off as needed, based on their use case and business logic.
| Note: This feature already exists for the driver-facing camera. |
What’s New?
The Dashcam Camera Control API enables customers to control camera functionality entirely, either on or off, using a secure API. Once activated, the dashcam is entirely off (no footage is recorded), and no AI functionality works. This setting persists across ignition cycles and device reboots.
How does this help our customers?
This feature enables flexible, responsible control of dashcam functionality, delivering the following benefits:
- Reliable API access: Delivers a secure experience via a public, authenticated API for remotely disabling or enabling camera recording per device.
- Camera shutdown: Completely turns off both road-facing and driver-facing cameras, preventing any footage from being captured and no detections from occurring.
- Personal mode supportability: Supports the fleets whose vehicles are used for both business and personal purposes.
- User-controlled context: Users are responsible for controlling when and why privacy mode is invoked, based on their usage requirements.
