Introduction
Lane Swerving AI Detection is a safety feature that uses road-facing computer vision to identify patterns of erratic vehicle movement on highways, often a key sign of driver fatigue or distraction. Designed to operate without a driver-facing camera, it provides fleets with a privacy-conscious method for identifying high-risk behaviors in real-time.
What’s New?
This new AI-powered detection goes beyond traditional lane departure systems. Rather than flagging a single instance of movement, it identifies repeated lateral swerves that occur over time, aggregating them into a single event for easier review and more accurate risk assessment.
How does this help our customers?
- Real-time Awareness: Gain early insight into behaviors that may indicate fatigue or distraction, allowing for timely intervention.
- Streamlined Workflows: Reviewers can quickly assess a short, composite video rather than scanning through long stretches of footage.
- Privacy-Conscious Detection: Enables risk detection for fleets that operate without driver-facing cameras due to union rules or internal policies.
-
Driver Coaching Support: Events appear in the Motive Driver App, and in-cab alerts are forthcoming to encourage safer behavior in real-time.
Rollout Plan or Feature Go-Live date?
Lane Swerving AI Detection will begin rolling out in October 2025 and will be available to all customers using AI Dashcams (AIDC-53 and AIDC-54).
Events can be reviewed in both the Motive Fleet App and the Motive Driver App for supported users.
