Motive has introduced enhancements for Idling Events, enabling fleets to track fuel cost and view idling reports with detailed insights.
What’s New?
- Fuel Cost for every Idling Event: Calculates and displays the fuel cost for each idling event on both the Idling Events page and the Idling Events report so fleets can quantify the impact of unnecessary idling.
- Temperature and Location-Aware Idling Alerts: Triggers idling alerts only when configured duration, temperature, and geofence (location) conditions are met, helping fleets focus on the most actionable idling behavior.
- Report Parity for Idling Insights: Adds temperature, geofence, and fuel cost fields to the Idling Events report so it mirrors the Idling Events page and supports consistent analysis across views.
How does this help our customers?
- Smarter Idling Context: Uses each event’s duration, temperature, and nearby geofence to distinguish necessary idling from avoidable idling.
- Per‑Event Fuel Spend: Calculates the fuel cost of every idling event using fuel receipts when available, or the national average price from EIA when they are not.
- Filters for Risky Idling Patterns: Adds new filters on the Idling Events page and report to surface recurring behaviors like long idling in warm weather or lunch‑time idling in yard geofences.
- API Access to Idling Details: Makes the same temperature, geofence, and fuel cost fields available in the public API so fleets can use this data in their own analytics and third‑party tools.
