Introduction
Engine Immobilizer Jammer Support enables fleets to detect possible jamming attempts on vehicles equipped with a Motive Engine Immobilizer. A new Engine Immobilizer jamming alert helps fleets operating in high-risk areas identify potential hijacking and theft attempts so they can react quickly from the Fleet Dashboard.
| Note: With this update, fleets can only configure and receive jamming detection alerts. The feature to automatically immobilize a vehicle when jamming is detected will be part of a future launch. For now, immobilization remains a manual action from the vehicle profile. |
What’s New?
- Jamming detection on Engine Immobilizers: Motive now enables always-on jamming detection for Engine Immobilizer devices, helping fleets identify when a jammer is used near a vehicle.
- New jamming alert type: Fleet admins can now configure a new Engine Immobilizer jamming alert in alerts admin settings and choose who gets notified by email, SMS, WhatsApp, in-app notification, or push notification.
- Alert with key event details: When the device reconnects after a jamming event, the alert information provides vehicle ID, event time, and last known location so teams can quickly understand what happened.
- Faster response from Fleet Dashboard: The alert links fleet managers to the vehicle profile so they can follow their internal security process and use existing remote immobilization controls if required.
How does this help our customers?
- Earlier visibility into potential theft attempts: Jamming detection allows fleets to see when and where a vehicle appears to have been jammed, instead of learning about potential theft only after a truck goes missing or connectivity is lost for a long period of time.
- Faster security response: Multi-channel alerts route critical jamming events to the right people on the channels they actively monitor, helping security and operations teams act within minutes rather than hours.
- Actionable context: With access to vehicle ID, event timestamp, last known location, and link to the vehicle profile, fleets can quickly understand what happened and follow internal security protocols for contacting the driver, verifying the situation, and deciding on immobilization.
- Stronger protection for high-risk operations: For fleets operating in high-risk areas, Jammer Support provides an additional security layer on top of existing Engine Immobilizer theft prevention, improving the likelihood of rapid response and recovery.
