Introduction
Motive Labs is a new dedicated space in the Motive Dashboard where fleet admins can explore new beta AI features and data experiences, built directly on their own fleet data, before those ideas become full product features.
What's New?
- New Labs tab in the Fleet Dashboard: Admins can now browse and launch experimental apps without leaving the dashboard.
- Three app types, one place: Apps in Labs appear in one of three ways:
- Private apps: Motive-built apps made available to selected customers.
- Global apps: Motive-built apps a PM deploys for all customers who can access Motive Labs.
- Custom-deployed apps: Apps customers build and add to their own Labs’ space. Customers are responsible for the app’s platform, keys, storage, and data handling. Motive Labs provides a surface to display the app link, not the app’s infrastructure or data management.
- Built-in feedback and opt-out: Every Labs app includes a way to give feedback, plus the option to opt out at any time.
How does this help our customers?
- Faster access to new capabilities: Fleet admins can try new AI and data experiences on their own fleet data months before they launch into full features.
- A direct feedback loop: What customers use and ask for in Labs helps shape what gets built next.
- Low commitment, full control: Motive Labs apps are opt-in; admins can opt out at any time, and opting out deletes that app's data for their account.
- A path to custom experiences: Strategic accounts with unique operational needs can get a custom-built app without waiting for a full product release.

FAQs
Who can access Motive Labs?
Fleet admins, across all segments and all countries where Motive operates. Motive Labs does not yet support users with the company switcher. If you use the company switcher, you may see unexpected data in Labs. Support is targeted for the next couple of weeks.
Are Motive Labs apps supported like GA features?
No. Labs apps are experimental, built with no-code and low-code tools rather than developed with full engineering support. Each app is badged as experimental and may change or be removed.
How is customer data protected?
Motive-built apps read data through a managed connection scoped to the customer's identity and role, and the app never handles API keys.
Who builds the apps?
Motive's own Product Managers build Motive-made apps, defining, describing, and building each one, with engineering providing the technical foundation. Customers don't build apps inside the Motive surface, but they can separately deploy their own apps into their own Labs space.
