Introduction
Motive Fleet Admins can manage their data retention per their schedule. They can decide which data to retain and for how long.
Note: Once a Fleet Admin decides to delete the data and choose a retention policy, the data is no longer accessible in the Fleet Dashboard. |
Self-Serve Data Retention Overview
By default, Motive retains your compliance, safety, and other data indefinitely.
However, You can customize your data retention policies for the following categories of data:
- Safety
- Compliance
- Location
- Messaging
Safety
- Dashcam videos (critical events and recall) & associated metadata
- Speeding events & history
- DRIVE score history
- Coaching history
Compliance
- Driver logs: duty status changes/remarks
- DVIRs / defects
- All trips
- Log suggestions/notes by FMs
- ELD Output files
- HoS violations
- Cycle restarts
Location
- Driver/Vehicle/Asset location history
- Vehicle trip history
- Dispatch history
- Idling events
Messaging
- Message history
- Conversation history
Data Retention Policies
Note: If you can’t edit the Data Retention Settings in the Fleet Dashboard’s Admin Settings, contact Motive Support and request they enable it.
Fleet Admins can choose their retention policy for Compliance, Safety, Messaging, and Location categories from Admin settings on Fleet Dashboard. By default, data is stored indefinitely for North American customers.
These are the available data retention periods:
