How do drivers annotate Hours of Service Exemption for Disaster Recovery on their logs?

    Answer

    Drivers can annotate their log by adding in a note. If the disaster exemption applies, all driving time within the 150 air mile radius of the applicable point can be logged as Off-Duty. Drivers can:

    • Utilize Personal Conveyance and annotate those driving events as Disaster Exempt. 
    • Not connect to the ELD, leaving all driving events unidentified, and annotate those driving events as Ag Exempt indicating the driver operating the Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV).
    • Drivers can also log the time as normal driving time and annotate the logs indicating that driving events were Disaster Exempt.
    Note: This will cause the driver’s countdown alert clocks to be inaccurate
