Installing AI Dashcam Plus on Fleet App

• Installation via Scanning
  • Entering VIN manually
    • Add a new vehicle

Installation via Scanning

1. Log in to the Fleet App and tap More > Devices > Install AI Dashcam Plus.

 

2. On the scanning screen, tap Got it to start scanning the AI Dashcam Plus QR code.

 

3. Once scanned, tap Continue.

 

4. Scan VIN.

 

5. Tap Continue.

 

6. Tap Confirm. 

 

7. The AIDC is now assigned to the selected vehicle and ready for physical installation. 

 

Entering VIN manually 

1. Follow steps 1 to 3 from the above section. 
2. On the Scan VIN screen, tap Enter VIN manually.

 

3. Enter VIN and tap Next.

 

4. Add Vehicle Details and tap Next. 

 

5. Tap Confirm.

 

6. Tap Add VIN to existing vehicle.

7. The AIDC is now assigned to the selected vehicle and is ready for physical installation.

 

Adding a new vehicle 

1. After manually adding the VIN, tap Add a new vehicle. 

 

2. Add the Vehicle details and tap Next.

 

3. Tap Confirm. 

 

4. The AIDC is now assigned to the selected vehicle and is ready for physical installation.

 

Selecting VIN from the list

1. Follow steps 1 to 3 from the above section. 
2. On the Scan VIN screen, tap Select from list.

 

3. Tap to select the required Vehicle. 

 

4. Add Vehicle Details and tap Next.

 

5. Tap Confirm to verify details or follow the instructions above to add a new vehicle.

 

6. Once confirmed, the Vehicle gets added to the fleet with the selected AIDC. 

 

Selecting AIDC+ from the list

1. In case of failed AIDC+ scanning, tap Select from list.

 

2. Select the required AI Dashcam Plus.

 

3. Tap Install for installation in the required vehicle. 
4. To Install in another vehicle, follow this section. 

 

Physical Installation

Once the AI Dashcam Plus is assigned to the Fleet App, it displays that the device is ready for physical installation. Tap Continue to start the physical installation. 

 

Selecting the required cable

1. Select the Cable number from the dropdown > Continue. 

Connecting the AI Dashcam Plus

1. The AI Dashcam Plus supports the following ports: OBD-II and J1939.

• The diagnostic port location may vary depending on the vehicle. Refer to the images for the different locations for OBD-II, and J1939.
• Typical locations for the diagnostic port are:
  • Driver’s side footwell
  • Beneath the centre console
  • Under the dashboard near the steering column
  • Near the fuse box

2. Once done, tap Next on the Connect to AI Dashcam Plus screen.

Plugging the AI Dashcam Plus into the vehicle adapter

1. Identify the diagnostic port and make sure you have the correct cable for your vehicle.
2. Plug the AI Dashcam Plus into the Vehicle Adapter.

3. Connect the vehicle adapter to the Motive-provided cable.
4. Connect the other end of the cable to your vehicle’s diagnostic port.

5. Once done, tap Next on the Connect the vehicle adapter screen.

6. This should power up the AI Dashcam Plus, and the right side LED on the AI Dashcam Plus should show solid blue after a few seconds of booting up.
7. Do not mount the AI Dashcam Plus at this time to the windscreen.

8. Tap the current LED status option on Fleet App.

Mounting the AI Dashcam Plus

1. Clean the windshield with the provided wipe or a 70/30 mixture of isopropyl alcohol/water. Do not use commercial cleaners, as they may leave residues that prevent proper bonding.
2. Make sure the glass surface temperature is at or above the cabin temperature, and the cabin air humidity is kept to a minimum. Note that a passenger entering a cold cabin can increase the temperature and humidity within the cabin with their body heat and breath, which may result in condensation on a cold windscreen.

3. Ensure the glass is fully dry before applying the adhesive. Peel the adhesive backing, press firmly against the glass, and hold for at least 10 seconds. Ensure you press out any air bubbles from between the glass and the adhesive.
4. Do not pre-heat the adhesive using any form of heat, for example, a flame. Ensure that you leave the interior of the cabin at a good temperature to allow time for the adhesive to properly bond to the glass.
5. Apply pressure to the mount and ensure you look at the outside of the windscreen to minimise any air pockets that might have appeared during adhesion. Press hard to ensure air bubbles are minimised.

3. Attach the dashcam (dual lens side facing the road) and press firmly for 10+ seconds.

• Route the single cable along the headliner and down the A-pillar towards the diagnostic port. Ensure that the cable is routed correctly around any curtain airbags. Use the provided cable ties to secure any excess cabling under the dashboard, and ensure all cables avoid any moving parts.

3. Use cable clips to secure the cable.

5. Once done, tap Next on the Mount the AI Dashcam Plus screen.

6. Learn about the LED states and tap Continue.

7. The physical installation is now completed, tap Finish.

Battery & Safety Warnings

• Do not replace the battery
• Avoid fire, high temperatures, and mechanical damage
• Low/high pressure or temperature may cause an explosion or a leak.

The LED indicators on the AI Dashcam Plus display various statuses and provide visual alerts for unsafe driving behaviours.

AI Dashcam Alerts

When the AI Dashcam Plus notices unsafe driving (like speeding or using a mobile phone), it warns the Driver right away using lights and sounds.

To turn on these in-cab alerts, go to the  Motive Fleet Dashboard and enable the settings.
