This feature combines the Motive fleet data with Microsoft Copilot Studio through the Motive Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. After you connect and publish an agent, you can ask questions in natural language and get responses based on your Motive data, including driver information, messages, fleet locations, hours-of-service (HOS) violations, and safety events.
Before you begin
Make sure you have:
- Access to Microsoft Copilot Studio with permission to create and publish agents.
- A Motive account with admin access.
- The Motive MCP server URL for your region:
- US/MX/CA: https://mcp.us.gomotive.com/mcp
- EU: https://mcp.eu.gomotive.com/mcp
Connect Motive MCP to an agent
1. Open your agent in Copilot Studio
From the Agents page, create a new agent or open an existing agent. Go to the Build tab. In the panel on the right, click the plus sign (+) next to Tools.
2. Add an MCP tool
In the Add a tool window, open the MCP tab and click Add in the top-right corner. From the menu, choose Model Context Protocol (MCP).
3. Enter the Motive MCP server details
In the Add MCP server window, enter the following details, then click Add.
- Server name: Motive
- Server description: Motive MCP is a native connector that turns Motive into a live, query-able data source inside AI tools.
- Server URL: Enter the URL for your region.
- Authentication: OAuth 2.0
- Configuration type: Dynamic (with discovery)
4. Create a connection
In the Select a connection window, the status shows Not connected. Open the Connection dropdown and select Create new connection.
5. Sign in and authorise access
When the Motive authorisation page opens, sign in with your Motive credentials. Approve access so Copilot can query your fleet data.
6. Confirm the connection
After authorisation, the Connection field shows Motive with a green tick. Click Add to attach the Motive MCP server to your agent.
7. Publish the agent
Select Publish in the top-right corner of the agent. In the Publish agent window:
- Select the Teams + Microsoft 365 channel.
- Select Make agent available in Microsoft 365 Copilot.
- Click Save and publish.
8. Confirm that the agent is published
Return to the Agents page and confirm that the Motive agent status is Published.
Use Motive in Copilot
Open Microsoft 365 Copilot or Teams, then select the Motive agent. Ask a question in plain language. For example: Give me a fleet debrief for the last 7 days.
Copilot returns a response based on the Motive data available to the agent.
