Dashcam Live Images Feature

Fleet Managers can request a live image provided the Smart Dashcam is connected. A camera card added to the Live tab on Fleet View facilitates this.

Note: If the Vehicle Gateway is disconnected, the image will not be uploaded promptly.

View Live image on the Motive Fleet Dashboard

1. Log into the Fleet Dashboard. The Fleet View is displayed.

2. Click on the vehicle for which you want to request a live image.

3. The most recent image (either from a live image request or from trip images) is displayed on the camera card by default in the Live tab, along with the timestamp of the last update.

4. Click Refresh on the camera card to view the live image.

5. When the image has finished refreshing, Images updated successfully appears on the card. A new image appears along with the updated timestamp in Live.

Automated image capture through Public APIs

Motive’s Public API now allows organisations to request live dashcam images directly from their own systems, without relying on the Motive Dashboard. This provides customers with a simple way to automate image capture as part of their own workflows instead of managing requests manually.

Public API requests can be triggered automatically based on business events in the customer’s own systems, making image capture easier to scale and integrate into day-to-day operations.

What this supports

Public API live image requests support:

  • Road-facing image capture for supported dashcams
  • Driver-facing image capture for supported dashcams

Requirements

To use this feature, you need:

  • A supported dashcam:
    1. Motive AI Dashcam Plus (AIDC+)
  • Access to Motive Public API credentials

Important notes

  • Public API live image requests capture a single image only and do not start video recording.
  • Public API live image requests are available in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and the United Kingdom.
