Unfamiliar Driver Alerts

Introduction

The Unfamiliar Driver Alert detects vehicle misuse using Motive’s AI Dashcam and real-time Fact Match. When an unknown driver is detected while the vehicle is in motion, an alert is sent to alert recipients.

What’s New?

From the fleet dashboard, managers can now add a new type of tracking alert to detect unfamiliar drivers operating the vehicle. When the alert is triggered:

  • Driver Verification: The AI Dashcam captures the driver’s face when the vehicle’s speed exceeds 5 km/hour and compares it against the fleet’s catalog of registered driver profiles.
  • Alert Trigger: If the image captured by the AI Dashcam does not match an existing profile, an alert is triggered. Future trips of the same individual add additional images to the existing unfamiliar driver profile instead of repeated alerts.

How does this help our customers?

  • Faster response: Unfamiliar alerts serve as an early signal of vehicle misuse for fleets while the vehicle is in motion.
  • Greater visibility: Each alert includes a clear driver image and vehicle location, giving fleets better visibility into who is behind the wheel.
  • Greater security: For fleets operating in theft-prone areas, unfamiliar alerts help prevent potential cargo loss and help safeguard drivers.
