Automations

Introduction

We are introducing Automations, powered by Motive AI, a centralized automation hub. Automations empower organizations to anticipate and resolve issues before they start. Customers can easily build and manage automated workflows using triggers, conditions, and actions to streamline operations in real time. This enables organizations to proactively respond to safety, maintenance, performance, and operational events using real-time fleet data.

Note: Access is controlled via existing role-based permissions. By default, the feature is available to Admin users. Additional access can be granted through role configuration in Fleet User Permissions on the Motive Fleet Dashboard.

What’s New?

This update adds new capabilities for creating, managing, and scaling automation workflows that act on your behalf across the Motive platform. Key updates include:

  • New automations hub: A dedicated section in the Fleet Dashboard > Admin > Platforms, where users can view, create, and manage all automations in one place.
  • Triggers and conditions: Customers can define automation logic using fleet data such as safety events, driver activity, vehicle status, fault codes, geofences, idling duration, and more.
  • Supported actions: Automations can trigger email, SMS, mobile/app notifications, Notification Center alerts, and training module assignments (Workforce Management required).
  • Recipes (Pre-built automations): Customers can quickly enable pre-configured workflows for common use cases like safety events, maintenance alerts, and idling management, with full customization options.
  • AI-assisted communication: Action messages are auto-generated and editable to speed up configuration.
  • Automation builder: Customers can create automations from scratch or start from pre-built recipes.

How does this help our customers?

Automations help fleets move from reactive management to proactive operations by automating critical workflows across safety, maintenance, fuel, and performance.

Key benefits include the following:

  • Proactive issue prevention: Automatically respond to risky events such as unsafe driving behavior, critical faults, or excessive idling.
  • Reduced manual workload: Eliminates repetitive monitoring and manual alerting tasks for fleet managers.
  • Faster response times: Ensures immediate action when conditions are met, improving safety and operational efficiency.
  • Scalable operations: Enables fleets to maintain consistent oversight as they grow without increasing administrative burden.
  • Simplified configuration: Pre-built recipes and guided setup make it easy to get started quickly, even without technical expertise.
