Motive AI Dashcam Plus combines the functionality of a Vehicle Gateway and an AI Dashcam into a single all-in-one device. It has two visible LED lights. Each LED shows a different type of device information, including connectivity, recording, privacy mode, firmware updates, and safety alerts.
Identifying the AIDC+ LEDs
Unlike the standard Vehicle Gateway with a left and right LED pair, the AI Dashcam Plus has two LEDs in different physical locations on the device:
- Connectivity LED: Located at the bottom center of the device, this smaller LED light communicates device startup, Driver App pairing status, GPS/LTE signal, and hardware health.
- Alerts LED: Located below the physical button on the device, the alerts LED communicates recording status, privacy mode, live stream or Quick Capture activity, and unsafe driving behaviors.
These two LEDs work independently. Read each LED on its own, then combine them to understand the overall state of the device. Use the tables below to look up what your AIDC+ LED lights mean.
AI Dashcam Plus Connectivity LED states

AI Dashcam Plus Alerts LED states
When the AI Dashcam Plus notices unsafe driving (like speeding or phone usage), alerts LED warns the Driver right away. To turn on these in-cab alerts, go to the Motive Fleet Dashboard and enable the settings.

| Blinking white | No audio | The device is booting or updating its firmware. Do not unplug the device. |
| Solid blue | No audio | The device is recording video from the road, driver, and/or license plate recognition (LPR) camera. This is the normal, healthy operating state. |

| Solid green | No audio | Privacy Mode is active. The road-facing camera continues recording while the driver-facing camera is disabled. |

Common AI Dashcam Plus LED combinations

Troubleshooting an unexpected AIDC+ LED state
- Confirm which LED is showing the color or blink pattern.
- If both LEDs are off, check that the vehicle adapter is securely connected to the AIDC+ and the vehicle diagnostic port.
- If the Connectivity LED is blinking red, open the Motive Driver App and select the vehicle to pair your Driver App with AIDC+.
- If the Alerts LED is blinking white, do not disconnect the device while a firmware update is in progress.
- If the Connectivity LED remains solid purple, contact Motive Support to report the hardware issue.
