FAQs
How Often Does Asset Gateway Mini Provide Location Updates?
Asset Gateway Mini provides different check-in rates based on its power source and settings. These settings can be adjusted from the Fleet Dashboard.
Check-in Rates:
Battery-Powered Mode (Default): Checks in every 12 hours, with options to change it to 8, 12, 24, or 48 hours from the Fleet Dashboard.
- Constant Power Source (Cabled): Sends location updates every minute when connected to continuous power.
- Ignition Power Source (Cabled): Updates location every minute while the engine is on and switches to battery-powered check-in intervals when the engine is off.
- Green Wire Connected to Ignition: Sends location updates every minute, even when the engine is off.
- Locate My Asset Feature: Allows on-demand location updates whenever needed.
What does Unpowered check-in rate mean, and which option should I choose?
The Unpowered check-in rate controls how often a battery-powered AG Mini sends location updates when it is not externally powered. Lower check-in intervals provide more frequent updates but consume more battery, while longer intervals help extend battery life. The Fleet App highlights 12 hours as the recommended option to balance visibility and battery performance.
Can I skip the guided installation steps if I already know how to install the device?
Yes. When you reach the installation screen, you can tap Skip guided installation to bypass the step‑by‑step flow. This is intended for experienced installers who already know the process and only need to connect the device and optionally run tests from the Fleet App.
Why do I need to test the GPS and Cellular/LTE before mounting the device?
Running a signal test before mounting ensures the chosen location has strong GPS and Cellular/LTE connectivity, so the AG Mini can reliably report its position and status. Testing first helps avoid mounting the device in a concealed or blocked area where signals are weak, which can negatively impact performance.
What should I do if the GPS or Cellular/LTE test shows weak or failed signals?
If the test results show weak or failed GPS/LTE, review how and where the AG Mini is placed. Make sure it has a clear view of the sky and is not blocked by metal, dense materials, or enclosed compartments. Reposition the device and rerun the test until the GPS-verified and Cellular/LTE-verified statuses appear in the app.
How do I run the GPS and Cellular/LTE test for a battery-powered AG Mini?
Hold or place the device in the intended mounting location and tap AG in the chosen location. Then use the provided pin to press the pinhole reset button on the side of the device. When the LED flashes blue, tap Light flashed blue in the app to begin the test. The Fleet App will then show whether GPS and Cellular/LTE are verified, weak, or failed.
What do the different LED colors mean during installation?
If the LED does not flash blue, the app prompts you to select the LED color and follow specific guidance:
- White: The device is still booting or updating. Wait at least 5 minutes before pressing the pinhole again.
- Orange: The device is overheated and needs to cool down. Wait at least 5 minutes before pressing the pinhole again.
- Red: The device battery is low. You’ll be given the option to select another device to continue the installation.
Can I reassign a battery-powered AG Mini to a different asset?
Yes. If an AG Mini is already assigned to an asset, you must unassign it from the current asset first. After it is unassigned, you can repeat the pairing steps in the Fleet App to assign it to a new asset and run through the installation and verification flow again.
