Introduction
EV battery alerts provide critical information for Fleet management, helping ensure that electric vehicles are adequately charged and ready for use. By monitoring battery levels, Fleets can optimize vehicle usage, reduce downtime, and improve overall efficiency.
How EV Battery Alerts Help You
Knowing the battery percentage is essential for Fleets to determine if Drivers can complete their assigned tasks. EV battery alerts have two primary use cases:
- Battery Usage Alerts: These alerts are triggered when the battery percentage falls below a specified threshold, allowing dispatch to send the Driver for a necessary charge.
- Battery Charging Alerts: These alerts activate when the battery percentage reaches a higher threshold during charging, enabling the Fleet to get the vehicle back on the road promptly.
EV Battery Alerts Overview
In the Motive Fleet Dashboard, the Alerts section in the left panel allows you to set up EV battery alerts.
Battery Depletion Alerts
These alerts notify you when the battery reaches a specified threshold. Two types of alerts can be set up:
- Low Battery Alert: Triggers when the battery drops to an initial low level.
- Critical Battery Alert: Triggers when the battery reaches a critical level, indicating that an opportunity charge is required.
Battery Charge Alerts
These alerts notify you when your vehicle reaches specific charge levels and when the charging process starts or ends. The following types of alerts can be set up:
- Customizable Charge Level Alerts: Alerts can be set to notify when the battery is charged to a specific, customizable percentage necessary to complete the day's tasks.
- Charge Start and End Alerts: Alerts can be configured to notify when the vehicle is plugged in or unplugged, indicating the start and end of the charging process.
Customization
The trigger range can be configured to alert Drivers and Fleet Users based on the following criteria:
- Specific Days of the Week: Alerts can be set according to the work schedule, ensuring notifications are sent only on designated days.
- Specific Times of the Day: Alerts can be configured to avoid non-duty hours, ensuring that notifications are received only during designated working periods.
Selecting Alert Recipients
In the Delivery section at the bottom, you can select the Fleet Users, Dispatchers, and Drivers who can receive the alerts. You can also set the delivery method as either notification, email, or both.
