Introduction
The Motive Driver ID Reader is a secure RFID/NFC device that accurately records driver data. Driver ID Reader is connected to Motive’s Fleet management system and improves safety, efficiency, and responsibility.

Steps
Note: Before you begin:

1. Select Vehicles. Either add a new vehicle or search for an existing vehicle to edit.
2. Use the Motive cable to connect the Driver ID Reader with the Vehicle Gateway.

3. Identify the Vehicle Gateway. Unplug the existing cable (if any) from the Vehicle Gateway DB15 port.
4. Connect the Cable 5005 to the Vehicle Gateway, and the vehicle connector cable to the DB15 connector on Cable 5005.
- Connect the Reader Communication socket to Cable 5005 RS232 Serial Interface.
Note: The Driver ID Reader communicates with the Vehicle Gateway via this serial connection. |

5. The reader is not powered through the serial connection and requires a 12/24v Power source;
- Connect the red lead from the Driver ID harness to the vehicle's 12/24v switched ignition power source
- Connect the black lead to ground
Note: Using switched ignition is recommended. |
6. Once the Driver ID Reader is powered ON, the red LED on the device illuminates.
7. Once the RFID Reader is powered on, bring the card to swipe with the reader. A successful read of an RFID card causes the green LED to blink once, accompanied by a single beep.
8. Peel off the adhesive backing on the Driver ID Reader.
9. Mount it in the desired location.
10. Utilize cable clips and zip ties to ensure proper cable routing between the Vehicle Gateway and Driver ID Reader.
Note: Avoid disassembling the device. Keep it away from high temperatures, humidity, and direct sunlight to prevent damage. Don’t use the device on airplanes or near medical equipment |
