Driver Safety Performance

Driver Safety Performance in Motive provides visibility into driver behavior across the Fleet Dashboard and reports. It helps fleets monitor trends, compare drivers, and identify coaching opportunities using Safety Scores and behavior-based metrics.

Overview

Driver Safety Performance combines real-time dashboard insights with detailed reporting to help fleets understand driver behavior.

Key capabilities include:

  • Monitor driver performance: View Safety Scores and behavior trends across your fleet
  • Analyze behavior categories: Review core risk, violations, driver awareness, and harsh driving metrics
  • Identify coaching opportunities: Surface drivers who require coaching based on performance data
  • Access detailed reports: Analyze trends over time using the Driver Safety Performance Report

Viewing driver safety performance (Drivers tab)

The Drivers tab provides a quick view of driver performance across behavior categories.

To access driver performance data:

  1. Log in to the Fleet Dashboard
  2. Click Safety
  3. Select the Drivers tab

The Drivers tab displays:

  • Driver: Driver name
  • Safety Score: Score as of the most recent Monday based on the selected date range

Behavior metrics

Each behavior category includes:

  • Primary: Count of behavior occurrences per 100 miles driven
  • Secondary: Total count of behavior occurrences within the selected time period

Displayed categories include:

  • Core Risk / 100 mi
  • Violations / 100 mi
  • Driver Awareness / 100 mi
  • Harsh Driving / 100 mi

Filtering and sorting drivers

You can refine the driver list using:

  • Date range
  • Safety Score range
  • Coachable behaviors

To view only drivers with coachable events:

  • Select the Coachable behaviors only checkbox

You can sort the list by:

  • Safety Score
  • Name
  • Core Risk
  • Violations
  • Driver Awareness
  • Harsh Driving
  • Fleet start date

Viewing driver details

To view additional information:

  1. Click a driver from the list

You can access:

  • Coaching history
  • Assigned coach

Viewing the Driver Safety Performance Report

The Driver Safety Performance Report provides a detailed breakdown of driver safety behavior over time, including severity levels and coaching status.

1. Log in to the Motive Fleet Dashboard and click Reports.img_1_-_eng.png

2. Click the Safety tab in the Browse section and then select Driver Safety Performance Report.img_2_-_eng.png

3. You can filter the Driver Safety Performance Report by Date range, Drivers, Behaviors, and Groups.

4. The report surfaces the following information:

Total EventsCount of safety events generated by the Driver within the time period
Coachable EventsCount of safety events generated within the time period that are in the coachable or coached status
Coached EventsCount of events generated within the time period that are in the coached status
Critical High/Medium/Low eventsCount of events generated within the time period that are of the indicated severity level
Critical High/Medium/Low events (Coachable)Count of events generated within the time period that are of the indicated severity level and in the coachable or coached status
Critical High/Medium/Low events (Coached)Count of events generated within the time period that are of the indicated severity level and in the coached status

5. The report can also be scheduled by selecting Options and clicking Schedule from the dropdown menu.000 img 4 - eng.png

7. To download the report, click Options and select Export as CSV.000 img 6 - eng.png

Note: Any changes made to a trip will take one day to reflect in the report.
