The Motive Fleet Dashboard features a unified Universal Search bar and specialised Fleet View filters to provide efficient retrieval of vehicle, driver, asset, and geofence data. This integrated search infrastructure streamlines fleet management workflows by ensuring critical information is accessible from any page within the platform.

Overview 

The Motive Fleet Dashboard offers a centralised search experience to quickly locate vehicles, drivers, assets, and geofences. Use the Universal Search bar to find entities by name, ID, or full/partial VIN. For specialised needs, use the Fleet View map for address lookups or entity-specific filters to narrow down results. These integrated tools streamline navigation and data retrieval across the platform. Key features include:

  • Streamlined workflow: A centralised search experience helps users locate information quickly and efficiently.
  • Consistent interface: The search bar remains visible and accessible from every page, ensuring a uniform experience across the platform. 
  • Maintained filtering: Fleet View dedicated filters are used to search vehicles, drivers, and assets, along with a separate location search on the map for address lookups.

Universal Search 

The Universal Search bar in the Motive Fleet Dashboard provides a centralised, always-accessible approach to quickly find vehicles, drivers, assets, and geofences from any page on the platform. Follow the steps below to search using the Universal Search: 

  1. Click the Universal Search bar placed on the left-hand menu. img 1 (3).png

  2. Enter the vehicle or asset ID, driver name, geofences, or full/partial Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to search.

    Note: VIN-based search is exclusive to the Universal Search bar and is not supported within Fleet View filters.

Searching for Geofences via Universal Search

  1. In the Fleet Dashboard, click the Universal Search bar at the top left-hand side. img 1 (3).png
  2. In the search bar, type the name or ID of the geofence you want to find.
  3. Click the Geofence from the search results. img 1 (13).png

Searching within Fleet View

The Fleet View enables searching for locations, assets, drivers, and vehicles using the respective search bars. Follow the steps below for each method: 

Location search

The Location search bar is placed directly on the Fleet View map. This allows fleets to search for and locate addresses or points of interest on the map.

  2. You can use this search bar to find and navigate to specific addresses or points of interest on the map.img 1 (9).png

Searching entities

The Fleet View page enables the fleets to search for drivers, vehicles, and assets using their specified search filters. 

  1. On the Fleet View page, locate the Drivers, Vehicle, and Assets search filters. 
  2. Select the required search filter and search by typing or scrolling through the drop-down list.

Searching for Geofences via Admin section

  1. Go to Admin on the Fleet Dashboard.
  2. Select Geofences from the left-hand side panel.
  3. Use the search bar at the top to type in the name of the geofence.

How do I search for a specific location or address?

A dedicated location search is available directly on the map within the Fleet View. You can use this search bar to find and navigate to specific addresses or points of interest on the map.

How can I filter my vehicles, drivers, or assets?

Search filters are available on the Fleet View page. You can use these filters to easily find and view specific vehicles, drivers, or assets.

What can I search for in the universal search bar?

The Universal Search bar, located in the left-hand navigation menu, is for searching for entities such as vehicles, drivers, assets, and geofences. It's designed to help you quickly access key information about your fleet regardless of what page you’re on in the Motive Dashboard.

Can I search by a partial VIN?

Yes, you can search using a partial VIN in the Universal Search bar (below the Motive logo) on the Motive Fleet Dashboard, as long as it matches the beginning (prefix) of the VIN.

Can I search by VIN in Fleet View filters?

No, VIN search is only available through the Universal Search bar.
