The historical activity search feature in Motive allows you to quickly find and review past vehicle and driver activity based on location and time. This is essential for effective incident response, route analysis, and compliance verification.

Historical activity search helps fleet managers gain insights into vehicle and driver activity during specific periods. Key benefits include:
- Incident investigation: Quickly review activity for safety or claims purposes.

- Compliance checks: Verify vehicles and drivers followed required protocols and routes.
- Location search: Pinpoint activity in specific areas to support business needs.
Viewing historical activity
To conduct a historical activity search:
- Go to Fleet View > History tab.
- Enter the location you want to search (address, coordinates, or place name).
- Set a search radius (0.1 mile to 50 miles around the selected point).
- Choose the time range (up to 12 weeks).

Click Search to view results matching your criteria.
Interpreting search results
After performing a search, Motive displays a list of vehicles and paired drivers that match your criteria.
- List view: Shows each vehicle, the paired driver, timestamps, and status updates.
- Map view: Visualizes the location history of matched vehicles.
- Key details: Includes when and where a vehicle entered or exited the search area, and its activity status during those times.
To analyze the data further:
- Click a vehicle from the results list to highlight and isolate its path on the map.
- Use the Animate feature to visualize the vehicle's movement along its route.
- Access the individual history page for detailed trip and event data.
- Drill down into specific events or timeframes by filtering within the results list or using the map to select points of interest.

Viewing vehicle's location history
- Log in to the Fleet Dashboard and go to Fleet View > Vehicles.
- To select a vehicle of your choice, use the Search by ID, Current Driver filter, or Issues filter, or scroll down the list.

Click the vehicle you want to view the location history for.
- Click History.
- From the History tab, use the Date filter to have a filtered view if required.

Click the arrow for any listed location to view more details.
| Note: To protect the privacy of drivers, Motive only shows the location data when a driver’s duty status is set to Driving or On-Duty. |
Viewing dashcam images

Hover over the time slider to preview dashcam images at different times.

Click a trip image to expand it and view timestamps for additional context.

Select the gallery icon to view the Trip Image Gallery.

The gallery provides access to all trip images in chronological order, with options to switch between cameras and review activity for job verification and safety events.
Viewing and downloading the Location History report
- Log in to Fleet Dashboard and click Reports.

Go to Vehicles > Location History.

Select filters for Date and Vehicle to generate the report.

You can view the vehicle location and speed details under their respective columns.
- Click Save to add the report to the saved reports folder for easy access.

Click the three-dot menu and select Export as PDF or Export as CSV to download the report.
Viewing and requesting Dashcam Images in the Fleet App
Fleet managers and installers can now view dashcam images directly from the Fleet App. This allows installers to instantly confirm the dashcam’s field of view right after mounting, ensuring proper alignment.
Viewing Dashcam images in the Fleet App

Log in to the Fleet App and go to More > Devices.

Tap the arrow next to the Vehicle Gateway.
Search the Vehicle Gateway serial number.

Tap the arrow next to the selected Vehicle Gateway.

The details about the selected Vehicle Gateway appear on the screen. Scroll to the Dashcam section and tap the arrow.
Cameras screen shows the images captured by Dashcam to ensure proper alignment.

Make necessary adjustments to the Dashcam for clearer images if required. Tap Refresh all to display the updated images.
Getting Live images from Dashcams in the Fleet App
If you want automatic trip image updates on the vehicle details screen, enable the trip image settings from the Admin panel on the Fleet Dashboard. Doing so automatically takes images from the Dashcam at each engine start/stop event and every hour in between.

From the Fleet App home screen, select or search for the vehicle you want to view or request a live image of.

This opens the details of the selected vehicle. Scroll down to Cameras and tap the arrow icon.
- If the Dashcam is installed properly, the most recent image with a timestamp of when it was uploaded displays on the Dashcam card. This image is either from a live image request or from trip images. If a Dual-Facing Dashcam is installed, both road-facing and Driver-facing images are displayed here.

To request new live images, tap Refresh all at the bottom. Once the request is made, the page automatically refreshes to display the new images.

Note: If the Vehicle Gateway is not updated to the most recent firmware version, the app doesn't display any image until it is updated. The ability to fetch & view live images is supported on version 1.6 and onwards of the Fleet App. |

Yes, the gallery includes a Camera dropdown to view images from different dashcams installed in the vehicle.
Can I still access the expanded image view?
Yes. Clicking on any image in the gallery will open the expanded trip image view introduced in Phase 1.
Does this replace existing functionality?
No. It only adds new capabilities on top of existing dashcam trip history features.
