Basics
HOS clocks are the main way drivers track their available hours and follow hours of service regulations. These clocks help you manage your schedule, reduce fatigue, and stay compliant.
Types of HOS clocks:
- Driving clock: Tracks remaining drive time (11 hours in the U.S., 13 in Canada)
- Shift clock: Tracks your total on-duty window (14 hours in both the U.S. and Canada)
- Cycle clock: Tracks accumulated on-duty time over several days (e.g., 60/70 hours in the U.S., 70/120 in Canada)
- Break/rest clock: Tracks required breaks (e.g., 30-minute break in the U.S., 8/2 split or 10-hour rest in Canada)
Your duty status, such as driving, on duty, off duty, or sleeper berth, affects which clocks are active.

What does it mean when my clocks turn red?
Red means you have reached or exceeded a legal limit and are at risk of a violation. Stop and take corrective action.

Where do I find the HOS clocks in the Driver App?
You can find them on the home screen or in the Logs tab.
14-hour shift limit violation
- The driver receives a 14-hour shift violation after being in the "On-Duty" and/or "Driving Status" for more than 14 hours in a given shift.
- The driver didn't complete the split sleeper berth provision correctly.
- Drivers can avoid this violation in the future by staying within the 14-hour shift limit and checking their clocks while staying connected to their vehicles.
- Drivers can also set up notifications from the app settings to remind them if they are approaching a violation.
- The driver can check split clocks for the correct time available.
30-minute break violation
- Driving for a total of 8 hours without taking a minimum 30-minute break, exceeding the legally permitted limit under HOS regulations.
- To avoid this violation, the driver must take a 30-minute break in a non-driving status (such as off-duty or on-duty but not driving) within the first 8 hours of the driving period.
