Introduction
Security Enhancements introduce enterprise-grade authentication controls for users, including password-free onboarding and two-factor authentication (2FA), to strengthen account protection and support organizational compliance requirements.
What’s New?
- Secure password-free onboarding: Admins can create user accounts without setting or sharing passwords. A secure activation link is sent directly to the user, allowing them to create their own credentials privately.
- Two-factor authentication (2FA): An additional verification step can now be required during login. Users must enter a verification code (sent via email or SMS) alongside their password.
- Customizable password rotation policies: Admins can enforce company-wide password expiration policies (30, 60, 90, or 180 days). The system automatically sends reminders to users when updates are required.
Note: Action is required for your IT / Email Security team (if you use IP-based allowlisting).
These ranges are operated by Amazon SES and are used by Motive for outbound email. If your environment relies only on domain-based authentication (SPF/DKIM/DMARC) and does not enforce IP-based allowlists, no configuration change should be required. |
How does this help our customers?
- Enhanced security and privacy: Eliminates password sharing and reduces the risk associated with credential exposure.
- Stronger access protection: Two-factor authentication adds a critical additional layer of defense against unauthorized access.
- Compliance readiness: Enforceable password policies and 2FA help organizations meet internal IT standards and external compliance requirements.
- Reduced security gaps: Automated reminders and secure activation workflows minimize human error in user account management.
