Introduction
Motive is introducing a configurable minimum miles eligibility rule for Driver Rewards challenges so that only drivers with meaningful driving exposure during the course of the challenge are prize-eligible. The addition of a sufficient mileage requirement for challenges improves fairness in challenge leaderboards and results.
What’s New?
- Configurable minimum miles requirement: While creating a challenge, fleet managers can set a minimum number of miles that must be driven during the challenge before a participant can become eligible and qualify for reward. This threshold is set at challenge creation and cannot be changed once the challenge starts.
- Daily eligibility computation: For each participating driver, the system calculates total miles over the challenge period and automatically flags them as prize‑eligible once they meet or exceed the configured minimum miles. Eligibility is recomputed daily so every driver's eligibility status stays up-to-date.
- Clear leaderboard eligibility states: All participating drivers still appear in the challenge, but only those who have met the minimum miles requirement are given ranks and prizes at the end of the challenge.
- Driver app progress toward eligibility: In the Driver App, challenge details now show a miles progress indicator along with clear eligibility status so drivers understand how many more miles they need to drive to qualify for prizes.
- Qualification message: When a driver crosses the configured required miles during an active challenge, they receive a message confirming that they are now prize‑eligible.
How does this help our customers?
- Fair challenge outcomes: By requiring a minimum number of challenge miles for prize eligibility, fleets ensure that only drivers with meaningful driving mileage can win. This prevents very low‑mile or yard‑move trips from unfairly outperforming the truly eligible drivers with more mileage.
- Improved leaderboards: Clear eligibility rules and messaging give fleets a more defensible explanation of why a given driver won, reducing complaints about short‑trip drivers taking top spot.
- More engaging driver experience: Leaderboards remain visible and motivating because participating drivers still see their progress toward eligibility. New eligibility-status progress bar helps drivers understand exactly what to do to qualify for prizes.
- Consistency with Safety Score: Applying a minimum mileage requirement to Driver Rewards makes its reward logic more consistent with Safety Score’s principle that a valid outcome requires adequate driving exposure.
