Dashcam Image capture via API

Introduction

You can now use Motive’s Public API to trigger on-demand dashcam image captures programmatically from supported dashcams. This enables your company to automate image capture workflows for operational use cases such as service verification, event-driven documentation, and third-party system integrations, without requiring manual image refreshes from the Motive Dashboard.

What’s new?

Motive now supports API-triggered image capture for supported dashcams through the Public API.

With this release, customers can:

  • Trigger a single on-demand image capture from a supported dashcams
  • Integrate automated image capture into operational workflows and external systems

This feature captures a single JPEG formatted image and does not initiate video recording or replace existing video recall workflows.

How does this help customers?

Automated image capture helps fleets collect visual proof at scale without requiring manual intervention.

Common use cases include:

  • Service verification for field operations
  • Proof of task completion
  • Event-driven image capture tied to telematics or business workflows
  • Integration with third-party systems for operational documentation

This provides a lightweight way to collect visual evidence when a full video recording is not required.
