Introduction
Motive's Overage Detection uses AI vision on trucks equipped with AI Dashcam Plus to automatically identify overflowing bins during pickup. Fleet managers can review overage events with supporting video evidence to reduce disputes and create revenue opportunities from bin upsells or fines for repeat overages.
What's new?
Overage Detection automatically identifies overflowing commercial bins during pickup without requiring driver input. When an overage is detected, the event is confirmed and surfaced in Web App > Operations > Overages with supporting video evidence and a severity rating.
Each overage event is assigned one of four severity bands - Very Low, Low, Medium, or High - based on how far bin contents exceed the bin rim.
How does this help fleets?
- Capture overages automatically: Identify overflowing bins without relying on manual driver reporting.
- Reduce billing disputes: Access video evidence for every detected overage to support charge recovery.
- Assess severity at a glance: Four severity bands give fleet managers an immediate read on how significant each overage is.
- Spot trends over time: Use overage data to optimize container sizing, route planning, and customer coaching.
