Provision Birdseye Launch

Introduction

Motive now provides support for the Pro-Vision Birdseye 360° AI DVR in the Motive Platform. Fleets can use the Birdseye 360° AI DVR for pedestrian and vehicle detection, while Ranger DVR remains the non-AI option for standard side and rear video coverage and recording.

The Birdseye 360° AI System is a comprehensive vision, detection, and recording system that provides the driver with a top-down “Birdseye” view of a vehicle’s surroundings. The integrated AI detection function automatically alerts the driver to nearby vehicles and pedestrians.

This update also makes Pro-Vision side and rear camera footage more reliably available in Motive safety events, helping fleets review more complete event footage in one place and reduce issues with missing or hard-to-access third-party camera footage.

What’s New?

  • Birdseye 360° AI DVR support: Fleets can now use the Pro-Vision Birdseye 360° AI DVR as a supported SKU. This new AI DVR adds pedestrian and vehicle detection capabilities that are not available on the non-AI Ranger DVR.
  • AI-powered detection: The Pro-Vision AI DVR enables AI-powered detection of pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists, and vehicles.
  • 200° field of view: Get a full birdseye view around the vehicle with the widest 200° field of view cameras.
  • Multi-camera support: Supports 4 and 6 camera configurations to ensure there are no blind spots, regardless of vehicle length.
Note: AI features do not work if the camera is mounted looking sideways on the body or mirrors.
  • Precise backup assist: Tailor the on-screen parking lines to your vehicle’s dimensions for more precise backup assist.
  • Real-time in-cab AI alerts: Drivers receive visual and audio alerts when the Birdseye AI DVR detects nearby pedestrians or vehicles.
  • Automatic view switching: The in-cab display automatically switches to side or rear views when turn signals or reverse gear is activated while still allowing drivers to interact with views manually.
  • Auto-fetched multi-camera footage: When an AI Dashcam safety event occurs, the Motive Platform automatically requests companion footage from the Pro-Vision DVR and attaches it to the same event.
Note: Not compatible with vehicles like tractor-trailers and similar vehicles, since the articulation (pivoting between tractor and trailer) causes the birdseye view to break.

How does this help our customers?

  • Improved driver awareness: Drivers can get a top-down Birdseye view plus real-time pedestrian and vehicle alerts to help reduce blind spots and improve awareness during daily operations.
  • Safer turns and reversing: Automatic side and rear view switching helps drivers see relevant camera angles at the right time during turns and backing maneuvers.
  • Flexible Pro-Vision setup options: Fleets that need AI-powered pedestrian and vehicle detection can use the Birdseye AI DVR, while fleets that only need standard side and rear video can continue using Ranger DVR.
