What is the Amazon Relay integration?
The Amazon Relay integration connects Motive with Amazon Relay, a platform used by independent fleets who move Amazon freight. It enables sharing of key safety data, such as collision alerts, dashcam device usage, and collision footage between Motive and Amazon. Through this integration, eligible fleets can enroll in Relay Safety Rewards, a program where Amazon rewards safe driving.
To get started, fleets complete enrollment through the Amazon Relay Dashboard. This includes signing the Amazon data-sharing agreement and completing Motive consent. The enrollment link can only be accessed via desktop or mobile browser, not via the mobile Relay application.
How to join Relay Safety Rewards?
To enroll in Relay Safety Rewards:
- Go to the Amazon Relay Dashboard and navigate to the Relay Safety Rewards enrollment page (enrollment link, desktop only).
- Sign the Amazon data-sharing agreement.
- Complete Motive consent by connecting to Motive (review permissions and confirm installation).
- Confirm your vehicle count.
- After enrollment is complete, Motive will contact you for next steps, including dashcam installation.
Requirements to activate the program:
- Amazon agreement signed
- Motive consent completed
- Dashcam installed and active
| Note: If any step is missed, the program doesn’t activate. The Motive integration with Amazon Relay is only available for Amazon Relay fleets. |
What is the eligibility for Amazon Relay Safety Rewards?
To be eligible for Relay Safety Rewards, fleets must:
- Be an active Amazon Relay fleet (must have hauled at least one load in the last year)
- Have a Motive dashcam installed, turned on, and uncovered during Relay routes.
- Maintain a collision-free record
- Be logged in as a Fleet Admin to complete the enrollment
- Have a DOT number listed and approved in the Motive account
When the integration is triggered from Amazon's end, Amazon verifies the DOT. If the account doesn’t have a DOT or its in pending status, the DOT information will not show in Motive’s data.
Fleets should reach out to Motive to have their DOT approved.
Integration steps after enrollment:
- Complete enrollment by signing the Amazon agreement and data-sharing consent using the enrollment link.
- Set up your vehicle profile.
- Before installation, add each vehicle to your Motive Fleet Dashboard with details including VIN, year, make, and model.
- Once the profile is saved, assign the Vehicle Gateway to that vehicle.
- Install the Motive dashcam.
- Upload the installation photo if you received a free dashcam and chose self install.
What are Relay Safety Rewards?
Relay Safety Rewards is Amazon's program that rewards fleets for safe driving. Eligible fleets earn a per-mile safety bonus for collision-free miles driven on Amazon Relay loads with an eligible dashcam turned on and in-cab alerts enabled.
Per-Mile Bonus structure:
| Tier | Rate per mile | Mileage range |
|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 | 2 cents | 0 to 50,000 miles |
| Tier 2 | 3 cents | 50,001 to 200,000 miles |
| Tier 3 | 4 cents | 200,001 to 300,000 miles |
| Tier 4 | 5 cents | 300,001 to 400,000 miles |
Annual bonus cap: 400,000 miles.
Fleets enrolled in the Free Dashcam Program automatically receive the Per-Mile Bonus. No additional steps are required.
| Note: To participate, fleets must be logged in as a Fleet Admin and have their DOT number listed in their Motive account for the Amazon Relay connection to work. |

- Sign the Amazon data-sharing agreement.
- Review the Motive marketplace consent permissions and confirm installation.
- Confirm the vehicle count.
- Motive will contact the fleet for next steps.
This integration lets fleets share safety data with Amazon and may qualify them for Relay Safety Rewards.
How to list the DOT number?
- Log in to the Motive Fleet Dashboard and click the Admin icon.
- Click Compliance.
- In the DOT Numbers widget, click Add.
- Enter your company's DOT number.
- Select the correct fleet name from the list.

- Motive will verify that the number is valid and registered with the FMCSA.
How to access Amazon Relay Safety Rewards consent form or permissions?
- Go to the Motive Fleet Dashboard > click Marketplace.
- Click Manage.
- Find Amazon Relay under Installed Apps > click View Permissions.
Fleets can view what data is being shared and can confirm consent there.
Can I update or change my Amazon Relay data sharing permissions?
Data sharing consent is binary. You are either enrolled (consenting to share data) or unenrolled. There is no option to partially update or modify which data is shared.
To stop sharing data (unenroll):
- Opt out on the Rewards page in your Amazon Relay account.
- Or remove the Amazon Relay integration from the Motive Marketplace (Marketplace > Manage > Amazon Relay > Remove App)
| Note: If you unenroll from Relay Safety Rewards or revoke data-sharing consent, you may be responsible for the dashcam setup cost (typically $600 to $800, prorated based on time enrolled in the program). |
How to remove the Amazon Relay integration?
- From the Motive Fleet Dashboard, click Marketplace.
- Click Manage.
- Select Amazon Relay.
- Click Remove App.
How to ensure Vehicle Gateway is securely connected and location is correct?
- Ensure the phone's location services are enabled and the Motive Driver App is updated.
- Check that the Vehicle Gateway is placed with a clear view of the sky and both LEDs are showing green.
| Note: Both lights being green means the Motive device is healthy and connected. |
How to add installation photos for the Dashcam / Unable to add installation photos?
- Go to Vehicles in the Motive Dashboard.
- Scroll down to edit your Vehicle Gateway.
- Upload the photo under Installation Details.
After the Vehicle Gateway is assigned to the vehicle profile, the installation photo upload screen will appear. Upload both a close-up and a wide shot of the installation.
How to add or edit VIN?
- Go to Vehicles in the Motive Dashboard.
- Locate the option to add a VIN, which automatically updates the Make and Model of the vehicle.
- The VIN is verified automatically via ECM once the Vehicle Gateway is assigned.
What data is shared with Amazon?
- Camera on/off status during an Amazon delivery
- Whether a severe collision occurred (tracked at the fleet level as a yes/no indicator)
- Collision footage when there is a severe collision
| Note: No personal driver data, camera footage, performance metrics, or driver personal information is shared beyond what is listed above. |
What happens after 12 months?
- Dashcam pricing becomes $25 per month per dashcam ($300 per year)
- Vehicle Gateway (VG): $20 per month add-on
- Amazon doesn’t fund renewals beyond the initial 12-month program term
- Continued service after the funded period converts to Motive commercial terms
What are the conditions to keep the free dashcam?
The free dashcam remains fully covered as long as the fleet stays active in the program. A fleet may owe back the setup cost (typically $600 to $800, prorated by time enrolled) if any of the following occur:
- Hauls fewer than 12,000 Relay miles in the program year (Amazon will reach out if mileage falls below 1,000 miles for two consecutive months)
- Cancels the Motive dashcam contract within the first year
- Unenrolls from Relay Safety Rewards or revokes data-sharing consent
- Relay account is suspended
How does the per-mile payout work?
- Payments are sent directly to the fleet's bank account (not shown on the Relay Payments page)
- Payments are made based on miles in a calendar month for the previous calendar month
- Payouts are issued for every 10,000 miles hauled. Leftover miles carry forward to the next month.
- There is a $5,000 limit per transaction. Larger payouts are split into increments of $5,000 with a final payment for any remaining balance.
What if a dashcam breaks?
Amazon doesn’t offer insurance or warranties on dashcams as part of Safety Rewards. If a dashcam breaks and the fleets would like to replace it, the fleet is responsible for doing so. The dashcam provider may offer warranties or insurance.
