Camera Recording Issue Alerts

Introduction

Camera recording issue alerts proactively notify fleets when a Dashcam unexpectedly stops recording and enters a 0% recording state, reducing the need to manually track camera status and recording state from the Device Hub.

What’s New?

Fleet managers can now create alerts that trigger when Dashcams stop recording and fleets lose video coverage.

  • Smart trigger logic: Alerts are driven by Device Hub’s recording metrics, so they trigger once when a camera truly enters a sustained 0% recording state.
  • Detailed alert notifications: Each alert notification clearly states that the camera has stopped recording and includes the camera, vehicle, and driver identifiers with a timestamp.
  • Actionable links: The alert notification includes a direct link to the affected device in Device Hub with recommended troubleshooting steps.
  • Device-level alert category: The alert lives under a new Devices alert category in the Fleet Dashboard, alongside other device-health alerts, making it easier to find and manage camera and hardware alerts in one place.

How does this help our customers?

  • Faster awareness of recording failures: Instead of discovering 0% recording cameras only after an incident, fleets get real-time alerts when a Dashcam stops recording, cutting time-to-awareness from hours or days to minutes.
  • Fewer footage gaps during critical events: Proactive alerts help fleets fix recording issues before crashes, claims, or safety investigations, reducing the risk of missing key video evidence.
  • Less manual camera monitoring: Safety and operations teams no longer need to constantly monitor the Device Hub > Cameras tab to spot non-recording devices, saving time, especially for fleets with large camera deployments.
