Release Date
The new feature has been available to all users by Aug 19th, 2023.
Introduction
Wi-Fi Hotspot updates allow fleets to get a simplified way to understand data usage, help ensure drivers use Wi-Fi hotspots for business purposes, and ensure that drivers remain compliant all the time.
Wi-Fi Hotspot Overview
Once the new feature rolls out, you will notice the following changes:
-
Accurate Hotspot Tracking
Only true Wi-Fi hotspots are shown, rather than combining all data sources.
-
Throttling Instead of Shutdown
Devices are no longer shut off when they hit their data limit; instead, speeds are throttled.
-
Blocking Streaming Sites
Streaming sites are blacklisted to prevent data abuse.
-
Improved Visibility
Users now have better visibility into hotspot status and monthly data usage.
-
Accurate Data Allotment
The true data limit is displayed, removing any extra allotments from other sources.
-
Lower Vehicle Threshold
The vehicle data threshold has been lowered to prevent misuse by individual users.
