Introduction
Motive enables Fleet Managers to bulk enable or disable Unpowered Mode for assets. This helps the Fleets to track vehicles at locations that don’t have access to a cable or solar power.
Note: This feature applies to all assets that have an Asset Gateway installed. To use the asset in this mode, it is recommended to enable a low battery alert to ensure you get a notification whenever it is time to charge it again. Enabling this mode for an asset delays the Geofence-related alerts. Also, the Utilization reports become unavailable. |
Steps: Bulk enabling or disabling Unpowered Mode
1. Log in to the Fleet Dashboard and click the Admin icon in the left-hand side menu.
2. Click the Organization dropdown and select Assets from the list.
3. Select the checkboxes on the left side of the assets you want to edit.
4. Click Edit.
5. Select Power Settings: Unpowered Mode.
6. Locate the dropdown menu and either click Enable or Disable.
7. While enabling, you need to specify the Location update frequency. You can choose to update your Asset Gateway’s location history by selecting Every 18 hours or Every 12 hours.
Note: Selecting Every 18 hours gives the Asset Gateway a longer battery life while selecting Every 12 hours drains it faster. |
7. Click Save, once done.
Note: The Asset Gateway still operates on solar energy even though the unpowered mode is turned on. The Asset Gateway stores solar energy in its battery. To preserve the battery, it pings just once every 18 hours or 12 hours, depending on the customer's choice. |
