How to use First Responder feature on Fleet Dashboard

    Fleet Managers, Fleet Admins

    Applies To Fleet Dashboard

    Introduction

When severe collisions happen, immediate dispatch of emergency services is crucial. Through the First Responder feature, Motive can now alert Fleet Managers and Safety Managers in cases of life-threatening collisions and allows them to call the local emergency dispatch center near the accident location without having to wait on admin lines.

When the call to the local emergency dispatch center is made, key details such as the accident location and vehicle identification information are shared with first responders so they can act quickly and effectively. This reduces response times and can lower the chances of fatalities, minimize severe injuries, and reduce costs for fleets.

Note: This feature only works when a Motive Dashcam and Vehicle Gateway is installed. For more details, please get in touch with Motive support. Also, currently, this feature is only live for fleets located in the United States.

    Q. What are the notices to be aware of when using the First Responder feature?

    A. Please see the terms below that pertain to the usage of this feature.

Motive is not responsible for detecting every possible life-threatening collision and will never call an Emergency Medical Service (EMS) on your company's behalf.

Our Safety Review team uses the following scenarios to detect a life-threatening collision:

    1. The vehicle is severely damaged and the Driver is incapacitated
    2. Driver experienced severe health issues
    3. The vehicle sustains severe damages regardless of the Driver’s condition
    4. There are incidents involving human or severe animal collisions
    5. There’s uncertainty about the Driver’s conditions after a severe collision, such as a rollover or high-impact crash

Please note that Motive does not call an EMS for the Driver. Motive sends an emergency message to the Administrator’s Fleet Dashboard with details and provides a unique 10-digit number for the local EMS service provider.

If the administrator calls the unique 10-digit number provided, Motive will AUTOMATICALLY send that EMS provider the following information:

    1. Driver Name
    2. Vehicle Make, Model, and Year
    3. License Plate
    4. VIN
    5. Time of impact
    6. Latitude and Longitude location of the vehicle

The customer is responsible for informing its end users that this information will be provided to the EMS provider. Furthermore, the customer is responsible for obtaining any necessary consents, approvals, and/or authorizations from any end user for Motive to collect the Customer Data and provide it to the EMS provider.
