Restricting transactions when the vehicle is not near the merchant station enhances the security of the Motive Card. This prevents unauthorized usage and protects against fraud. When enabled, this setting automatically declines Motive Card transactions if the vehicle location and card swipe location do not match.
| Note: Drivers using Driver Cards must connect to the Vehicle Gateway to ensure real-time location details are sent and unnecessary auto-declines can be avoided. |
| Note: By default, transactions without real-time vehicle location are processed without cardholder authorization. To enable cardholder authorization, fleet admins must enable a soft decline. Once enabled cardholders will have to verify a transaction and reattempt after 30 minutes when telematics data is unreliable. |
Enabling Auto-decline Vehicle & spend location mismatch feature
1. Log in to the Fleet Dashboard and click the Admin icon at the bottom left corner.
2. Click the Products dropdown from the left-hand side menu.
3. Click Cards.
4. Click the Settings tab.
5. Click Edit in Fuel theft detection and prevention.
6. Checkmark the boxes to enable the Auto-decline transactions feature.
7. Select Require cardholder to authorize attempted purchase and retry to enable the Soft-decline feature.
8. The settings are updated, and the Auto-decline transactions feature for Vehicle & spend location, and Telematics mismatch are enabled.
Viewing Auto-declined Vehicle & spend location mismatch transactions
1. Log in to the Fleet Dashboard.
2. Click Cards from the left-hand side menu.
3. Click the Overview tab.
4. In the Action Center on the right, click Suspicious Spend and view flagged transactions to check for Auto-declined Vehicle & spend location mismatch.
| Note: Fraud Protection Amt. shows an estimated amount of transactions that are declined due to fraud protection controls. |
5. You can also view it by clicking the Transactions tab.
6. Select Declined from the Status filter.
7. Select Needs review from Flag reason to view all the Auto-declined Transactions that need review. The list of Auto-declined Transactions appears.
8. Hover over the red icon to see if it’s the transaction for an Auto-declined Vehicle & spend location mismatch. If yes, click it to view details.
9. The Transaction Details appear on the right side of the screen. Here you can review the reason for Auto-decline and other related information.
