    Introduction

Vehicle Profile 2.0 is a complete redesign of how vehicle settings are organized, customized, and managed across the Motive platform.

Built on the Admin 2.0 framework, this page delivers a significantly more intuitive and powerful experience for Fleet Admins—bringing unmatched visibility, control, and flexibility at both the organization and vehicle level.

    Key improvements include:

    • Streamlined Information Architecture – Vehicle details are now organized into three clear sections: General, Devices, and Settings, making navigation faster and more intuitive.
    • Enhanced Override Visibility – Easily identify, compare, and manage vehicle-level overrides with blue underline indicators, hover-to-compare insights, and one-click reset controls.
    • Advanced Safety Customization – Move beyond in-cab alerts and customize both event detection and alert thresholds per vehicle using simple sliders.
    • Hardware-Aware Configuration – Settings tied to specific devices only appear when those devices are installed, minimizing confusion and improving clarity.
    • Future-Ready Architecture – Designed to support upcoming features like Group Level Settings, enabling bulk policy management across business units or vehicle groups.

    General

The General section consists of several dedicated cards, each focused on a specific aspect of vehicle management:

    • Details – Stores core vehicle information, including make, model, year, fuel type, VIN, license plate number, and issuing country.

    • Availability – Allows fleet admins to mark vehicles as in service or out of service and provide notes or instructions for drivers (e.g., scheduled maintenance).

    • Regulation – Defines whether the vehicle is regulated for Hours of Service (HOS) and provides options to switch between driving modes.

    • Groups – Shows group assignments for the vehicle, allowing easy segmentation and categorization within the fleet.

    • Driver Assignment – Enables admins to pair a vehicle with a specific driver, ensuring consistent assignment and visibility.

    • Odometer & Engine Hours – Displays mileage and engine hour data, which is crucial for maintenance tracking and compliance.

    Devices

The Devices section in Vehicle Admin 2.0 ensures that Fleet Admins can efficiently add, assign, and configure all devices attached to a vehicle.

    • Vehicle Gateway – The core telematics device that enables data capture and connectivity for vehicle operations.

    • Smart Dashcam or AI Dashcam – Plug-and-play device options that do not require an assignment workflow.

    • AI Omnicam – A side or rear camera with AI-powered visibility.

    • Auxiliary (AUX) Inputs – Tracks and monitors connected auxiliary equipment, such as power take-offs, generators, or crane booms.

    • Engine Immobilizer – Provides remote control over engine activation, adding a layer of security to fleet vehicles.

    • ID Reader – Enables driver identification and authentication via RFID or other recognition technologies.

    Settings

The Settings section in Vehicle Admin 2.0 is the third and final section that consolidates all product-specific configurations that fall outside of basic vehicle attributes and assigned devices.

Note: Product-specific appears only after the vehicle creation process is complete.

    • Once a new vehicle is created and saved, these settings automatically populate with the organization-level defaults and can then be reviewed, edited, or customized as needed.

Unsafe Behavior Detection & Unsafe Behavior Detection: BETA

    • Full configurability of all unsafe driving behavior detection settings
    • All event detection settings can be customized at the vehicle level.
    • Fleet Admins can easily see the differences between organization-level settings and vehicle-specific overrides.

    Compliance

    • Automatic odometer readings for driver logs.
    • Personal conveyance options for drivers, allowing vehicles to be driven for non-work purposes when enabled.

    Fuel Settings

    • Fleets can now opt in to automatically share telematics data for IFTA reporting.
    • Configuration options for long idling events, enabling fleets to monitor and reduce excessive idling.

    Inspection Forms (DVIR Configuration)

    • Select which Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR) forms are required for the vehicle.

    Vehicle Overrides

Vehicle override is when you customize a setting for a vehicle, and it overrides the organization's default setting. Once a vehicle setting is overridden, it no longer inherits changes made at the organization level.
