AI Dashcam Plus 6014 3‑wire Hardwired Power Cable

Introduction

The AI Dashcam Plus (AIDC+) 6014 3‑wire Hardwired Power Cable (VCBL‑D‑HW3W) is a new power‑only cable for AIDC+ with Vehicle Gateway 5 (VG5), providing a direct‑to‑battery connection via VIA or HUB. This cable enables fleets to use AIDC+ on vehicles that do not have a standard diagnostics port by extending the AIDC+ cable lineup to hardwired installs across mixed fleets and specialty equipment.

What’s New?

  • Dedicated 3‑wire power‑only cable for VG5 and AIDC+: New 6014 cable that hardwires VG5 (and connected AIDC Plus or HUB accessories) directly to vehicle power and ignition, enabling GPS, trips, tracking, safety, and engine‑hours data on vehicles without a diagnostics port.
  • Industry-standard 3-wire harness design: Uses a familiar 3‑wire pattern with:
    • Red for constant power (8–32 V)
    • Yellow for ignition sense (10–32 V)
    • Black for ground
    • An inline 5 A fuse on the power lead to protect both the device and vehicle electrical systems.
  • VIA and HUB‑compatible connector: The 6014 cable terminates in a 24‑pin connector on the VIA side, designed to lock securely and tolerate vibration and movement. All 24 pins are populated on the connector side. Unused pins simply are not wired further.
  • Installation-friendly design: Approximately 245 cm (~8 ft) cable length is sized for routing in both US and UK cabs and designed to withstand 90° bends at the connector and along the run during installation.
  • Power-only cable: This cable powers VG5 and accessories with access to only engine hours data. It does not carry engine diagnostics or fault codes and is not sufficient for ELD mandate compliance.
  • Supported device configurations: The cable is designed to support the following wiring stacks:
    • VG5 + VIA
    • VG5 + VIA DoIP
    • VG5 + HUB + VIA
    • VG5 + HUB (with AIDC Plus and other accessories) + VIA

How does this help our customers?

  • Unlocks stranded assets: Lets fleets bring construction equipment, older vehicles, golf carts or buggies, small utility vehicles, and some EVs online even when there is no diagnostics port, so critical assets are no longer invisible to operations and safety teams.
  • Eliminates blind spots in mixed fleets: Feeds location, trips, tracking, safety, and engine-hours data into the Motive Platform from non-OBD and specialty assets, reducing guesswork around utilization, routing, and risk across trucks, yellow iron, and other equipment.
  • Reduces installer friction and rework: Uses a familiar 3-wire fused hardwire design that matches what installers are already used to, lowering training overhead, cutting installation errors, and speeding up deployment.
  • Prevents unplugging and tampering issues: Hardwired, behind-dash power with fused protection and an 8 ft, bend-tolerant harness helps avoid loose plugs, exposed cables, and accidental or intentional disconnects that can disrupt tracking and safety coverage.
