Fleet admins can create Alerts for drivers, fleet managers, and external recipients through the Motive Dashboard. Alerts can be configured for delivery via email, SMS, WhatsApp, and the Notification Center.

Steps: Creating and managing Alerts
Create alerts for driver, group, or vehicle
1. Log in to the Fleet Admin account and click the Admin icon in the left-hand side menu.
2. Click Alerts in the left-hand side menu.
3. Click the + Create Alert button to create a new Alert.
4. On the Create Alert screen, add a Name for the alert and select Type from the dropdown menu.
5. Once the alert type is selected, click Select to choose to whom this alert applies.
6. Select from the pop-up menu and click Save.
7. Set the rest of the Alert trigger details. These vary based on the type of Alert that has been selected.
Specify recipients for Alerts
Fleet Admins designate which Drivers and Fleet users in Motive receive alerts. Alerts can be sent to parties outside of their company through the External Recipients tab described below.
1. Click Select in the Recipients section and add Fleet Users, Drivers, or Groups.
2. Click Save once all the recipient selections are complete.

Note: Fleet Users are only sent Alerts about Drivers, Vehicles, or Groups they have permission to view.

Set Priority, Frequency, and Methods of Delivery
1. To set the Priority of the alert, check or uncheck the Important checkbox.
| Note: When you prioritize the Alert as Important, it appears in the Important tab of the Notification Center for Fleet users who receive the Alert. |
2. Set the Delivery frequency as Immediate or Scheduled.
3. The delivery method can be set as Email, Notification, SMS, and/or WhatsApp.
4. If SMS or WhatsApp is selected as the Method of delivery of alerts, click add phone numbers to add the phone numbers of the recipients.
| Note: WhatsApp messages are sent near real-time at the time of the triggering event. You cannot schedule or batch them. |
Specify External Recipients for Alerts
1. To deliver alerts to external recipients (people who are not Drivers or Fleet users in Motive), click the External Recipients (Optional) dropdown.
2. Enter the email address or phone number for the recipient.

3. You can add as many numbers as you want.
4. Once all the information is added, click Save.
Opting In/Out of SMS and WhatsApp
In compliance with SMS and WhatsApp regulations, Motive supports the ability for recipients to opt in and out of future messages sent from our platform. Upon sending a message to a new recipient, Motive sends an additional, standard opt-out message:
