Stop Sign Violation is among the most dangerous driving behaviors on the road. Motive’s AI and Smart Dashcams can proactively detect rolling stop sign behavior to help fleets reduce risk, prevent accidents, and improve driver safety.
Overview
- Identify violations: Detect when drivers fail to make a complete stop at stop signs across your fleet.
- Review event details: Understand the context of each violation using severity, location, and supporting data.
- Support driver coaching: Use event data to guide conversations and reinforce safe driving behavior.
- Receive timely alerts: Get notified when violations occur so you can take immediate action.

FAQs
What do we do if a Stop Sign Violation is recorded at a location where there is no stop sign?
Stop Sign Violations are generated by AI based on Dashcam video and map data, and in rare cases an intersection or sign can be misclassified as a stop sign. If you see a violation at a location where there is no stop sign, a fleet admin should review the event in Safety > Events (including the video and map). If it is clearly a false detection, they can Dismiss the event as not coachable so it is excluded from coaching workflows and Safety Score calculations. Drivers who don’t have Fleet Dashboard access should report the vehicle, date, time, and location to their safety or fleet manager, and share any photos or notes that help confirm the location.
Will Motive still create a Stop Sign Violation event if the driver makes a permitted right turn at the stop sign with the right turn signal on?
Yes. Stop Sign Violation events are based on whether the vehicle slows sufficiently at the detected stop sign, not on turn signal usage. Motive does not currently exempt right turn without full stop scenarios, and there is no way to ignore specific stop signs. Fleet admins can review each event’s video and context in the Safety dashboard and dismiss events they do not consider coachable.
