What is the Mobile-Based Card Unlock Feature for Motive Cards Assigned to Drivers?

Fleet Admins can enable the Mobile-Based Card Unlock feature at the fleet level and manage it for individual cardholders. When enabled, all Motive Cards in the fleet remain locked by default.

Cardholders must unlock their cards using the Driver App or by sending an SMS to Motive before making a transaction. If the card is not unlocked, transactions will be declined.

Note: This article is only applicable to cards assigned to drivers and not applicable to cards assigned to vehicles. Here is how you can unlock a Motive Card assigned to a vehicle.

The Mobile-Based Card Unlock feature provides:

  • Enhanced Security – Prevents unauthorized transactions.
  • Fleet Control – Allows Fleet Admins to manage card usage at the fleet or individual cardholder level.

Fleet Admins can choose to enable the Mobile-Based Card Unlock feature from the Fleet Dashboard. Once enabled, all Motive cards in the fleet would get locked automatically. The Fleet Manager can disable the mobile-based card unlock feature for individual cardholders in the fleet using these steps.
