Fraud Protection Guarantee is Motive’s advanced fraud protection program. It safeguards the fleet’s profitability through mobile-based card unlock, AI-powered fraud detection with instant auto-declines, and highly customizable spend controls.

Motive's Fraud Protection Guarantee is designed to provide peace of mind and financial security when using Motive Cards.

- Protection against Unauthorized Transactions: The program offers protection against eligible unauthorized transactions, ensuring that you're not held liable for fraudulent activity on your cards.

Enhanced security with Advanced Fraud Controls: To qualify for the guarantee, you must utilize Motive's advanced fraud prevention features, which include:
- Mobile-based card unlock: This feature adds an extra layer of security by requiring cardholders to unlock their cards via the Motive Driver App or SMS before each transaction, protecting against unauthorized use, skimming, and theft.

AI-powered fraud detection with auto-declines: Our system automatically detects and declines potentially fraudulent transactions in near real-time, thanks to the integration of fleet telematics and Motive Card spend data. This includes:

- Vehicle proximity auto-declines: Automatically declining fuel transactions when the vehicle's location doesn't match the merchant's location.
- Fuel tank threshold auto-declines: Automatically declining transactions if the fuel tank is already above the set capacity.

- Customizable spend controls: You can set various controls to restrict card usage and prevent unauthorized spending, including time limits, spend limits, category restrictions, and merchant controls.
- Financial Safeguard: If fraud does occur despite these controls, the guarantee provides financial coverage, reimbursing eligible losses.
- Clear Visibility and Accountability: The new Audit Logs provide transparency into any changes made to your card settings, helping you track and monitor account activity.
Coverage Amounts
- The maximum annual coverage is $250,000 for accounts with an annualized credit limit* of $1,000,000 or more (up to $15,000 per card).
- The maximum annual coverage is $25,000 for accounts with an annualized credit limit* of less than $1,000,000 (up to $15,000 per card).

Fraud Protection Insights
Fraud Protection in Transactions
The Transaction page now includes a dedicated Fraud Protection section. It displays which fraud protection settings were active for each transaction.
In the Fraud Protection section, fleets can see visual indicators representing the transaction’s fraud protection status. The three states (checkmark, cross, and warning) indicate the status of different fraud protection controls for a particular transaction:
- Checkmark (✅): Relevant fraud prevention settings were active and applied to this transaction.
- Cross (❌): Relevant fraud prevention settings were not active and hence not applied to this transaction.
- Warning (⚠️): This indicates that specific fraud protection measures were in place; there might be factors that limit coverage for this specific transaction. Hovering over the name determines what options are limited.
Audit Log for Cards
Audit Logs for Cards are added for increased transparency and accountability. These logs provide a record of key actions taken on fraud controls, such as enabling/disabling proximity checks or changing spend limits. It helps troubleshoot issues, understand who made specific changes and when, and ensures compliance.
1. Log in to Motive Fleet Dashboard and click the Admin icon.
2. Scroll down and click Audit Log.
3. Select Cards from the Area drop-down.
4. Click the required log.
A screen displays the details of this particular activity.
