Introduction
Reports in Motive Analytics help you track, measure, and analyze key data about the fleet operations. This guide explains how to access reports, customize them, and export data for further analysis.
Note: Motive Analytics is currently a beta release, which means it is not accessible for all customers yet. |
Using Reports in Motive Analytics
Viewing Existing Reports
- Log in to the Fleet Dashboard and click Reports.
- Click the Motive Analytics tab.
- Click View all.
- On the required Report, click the three dots. Click Make a Copy.
5. Edit or rename the copy of the report to customize further.
6. Once done, click Save.
Create a New Report
1. Click New Report.
2. The Custom Reports Builder opens, displaying:
- A sidebar with available data points.
- A blank Search bar.
Note: To create a new report, either duplicate an existing one and modify it, or build a report from scratch by searching your data. |
2. The Search bar displays each phrase as a text box once you click outside of it. Dates appear in purple, measures in green, attributes in blue, and filters in gray.
3. Once done, select the change visualization icon to get a palette of chart types you can choose from.

4. Click Save once done.
Pinning Reports to an existing Dashboard
1. Select the report that is required to pin.
2. Click Pin option located in the top-right corner.
3. Select the Dashboard and the specific tab where you want to pin the report.
4. Click Pin.
Report Customizations in Motive Analytics
1. Select the report you want to visualize.
2. Click the edit icon.
3. Select to change the KPI chart to another measure or attribute.
Report Visualizations
- Log in to the Fleet Dashboard and click Reports.
- Click the Motive Analytics tab.

4. Select the change visualization icon to get a palette of chart types you can choose from.

- Change the KPI chart to another measure or attribute.

1. Click the chart configuration icon and select Settings to edit the chart.

- Open the Map type dropdown menu, and select one of the options: Light, Dark, Outdoors, Streets, Satellite, or Satellite Streets. The default is Light.

Using Filters in Motive Analytics Reports
1. In the Motive Analytics tab, click New Report.
2. In the column information in the left side menu, click the Add as filter icon.
3. Select the legend labels to toggle the values on or off.
4. To add a filter from the chart axes:
- While viewing your Answer as a chart, click the chart axis you want to filter on, and select Filter.
- The filter modals for attributes and measures are different. The modal for an attribute looks like this:
For an attribute filter, select values to Include or Exclude. You can also select all or clear all. If there are too many values, you can use the filter search bar to find the ones you want.
5. For a measure filter, select Add condition.
6. Click Apply.

The number of levels down in the hierarchy where the User Group Name is located. Example: In the User Group Path "North America -> California -> Los Angeles," the group Los Angeles is at a User Group Depth of 3. |

The name of the group to which the user belongs. Each user assigned to a subgroup is also a member of the parent groups within the hierarchy. To view only users assigned to a specific subgroup, include the keyword as an explicit group member in your data search. |

A flattened view of the group hierarchy from the highest-level User Parent Group Name to the lowest-level User Group Name. Example: "North America -> California -> Los Angeles." |

Change Axis Options
1. Select to open the target report for editing from the Motive Analytics tab.
2. Click Axis.
3. Click the Aggregate option in the axis menu, and select an alternative from the list of options.
- The options include Total, Avg, Min, Max, Total Count, Unique Count, Std Deviation, and Variance.
4. Click Filters to add, change, or remove filters.
5. A pop-up appears, select + Add a condition.
6. Select the comparison option from the Conditions dropdown.
7. Set the relevant numerical limits.
Note: When the is between operator is selected, a minimum and maximum value must be set. The is in and is not in operators require a list of values separated by semicolons (";"). |
8. Select the edit chart configuration in the upper right of your chart for Conditional formatting.
9. The Edit chart panel appears on the Configure menu.
10. Select an operator. The valid options for measures are less than, greater than, less than or equal to, greater than or equal to, equal to, not equal to, and between.
11. Select the conditional value, or in the case of the between operator, the conditional range.
12. Choose the new color from the color selector.
13. Click Apply.
Once changes are applied, the axis are changed and graphs are revised.
14. Select the Sort option in the axis menu, and choose an alternative from the list of options: Ascending or Descending.
15. Click Rename, Edit, or Remove to further edit the axis.
Hiding/showing values in a report
Hide or show a column

- To hide an item from the report, click it in the legend.
- To bring the item back into view, click it again in the legend.
Note: Double-click it in the legend to focus on a specific item. This filters the report to display only that selection. |

Hide or show a sliced value
1. Click Slice with Colour.
2. Click the metrics that need to be hidden or shown.
Exclude Metrics
1. Right-click the item you want to exclude (e.g., a column or a donut wedge).
2. Select Exclude "Metrics".
Changing Chart Colors
1. Click the Chart Configuration icon in the upper-right corner.
2. Select the column or value you would like to change.
3. Click Slice with Color.
4. Use the color picker to choose a new color to represent that value.
Set colors from the legend
A legend appears next to or below the chart when slicing with color or using multiple columns on an axis.
- To change a color, select the color circle next to a legend item and choose a new color or enter a HEX value.
Change the chart gradient
- Select Edit under Gradient.
- In the Gradient pop-up, define the colors for the Low, Midpoint, and High values using the color selector dropdowns.
- In the text boxes below the color selectors, you can numerically define the low, midpoint, and high points.
- Click Save.
Showing Data Labels
Data labels can be displayed for every measure in the chart or configured separately for each measure.
- Click the Chart Configuration icon in the upper-right corner.
- Click Settings
- Check the All Labels checkbox.
4. Select the desired measure and check the Data Labels checkbox.
