Installing AI Dashcam Plus on Fleet App
- Installation via Scanning
- Entering VIN manually

Installation via Scanning
- Log in to the Fleet App and tap More > Devices > Install AI Dashcam Plus.
- On the scanning screen, tap Got it to start scanning the AI Dashcam Plus QR code.
- Once scanned, tap Continue.
- Scan VIN.
- Tap Continue.
- Tap Confirm.
- The AIDC is now assigned to the selected vehicle and ready for physical installation.
Entering VIN manually
- Follow steps 1 to 3 from the above section.
- On the Scan VIN screen, tap Enter VIN manually.
- Enter VIN and tap Next.
- Add Vehicle Details and tap Next.
- Tap Confirm.
- Tap Add VIN to existing vehicle.
- The AIDC is now assigned to the selected vehicle and is ready for physical installation.
Adding a new vehicle
- After manually adding the VIN tap Add a new vehicle.
- Add the Vehicle details and tap Next.
- Tap Confirm.
- The AIDC is now assigned to the selected vehicle and is ready for physical installation.
Selecting VIN from the list
- Follow steps 1 to 3 from the above section.
- On the Scan VIN screen, tap Select from list.
- Tap to select the required Vehicle.
- Add Vehicle Details and tap Next.
- Tap Confirm to verify details or follow the instructions above to add a new vehicle.
- Once confirmed, the Vehicle gets added to the fleet with the selected AIDC.
Selecting AIDC+ from the list
- In case of failed AIDC+ scanning, tap Select from list.
- Select the required AI Dashcam Plus.
- Tap Install for installation in the required vehicle.
- To Install in another vehicle, follow this section.
| Note: Always scan and assign the AI Dashcam Plus serial number, not the VIA serial number, when adding a device to a vehicle in Motive. VIA is a supporting adapter and should not be used for serial number scanning. |
Physical Installation
Once the AI Dashcam Plus is assigned to the Fleet App, it displays that the device is ready for physical installation. Tap Continue to start the physical installation.

Selecting the required cable
- Select the Cable number from the dropdown > Continue.
Connecting the AI Dashcam Plus
- The AI Dashcam Plus supports the following ports: RP1226, OBD-II, and J1939 (9-pin)
- The diagnostic port location may vary depending on the vehicle. Refer to the images for the different locations for OBD-II, RP1226, and J1939.
- Typical locations for the diagnostic port are:
- Driver’s side footwell
- Beneath the center console
- Under the dashboard near the steering column
- Near the fuse box
- Once done, tap Next on the Connect to AI Dashcam Plus screen.
Plugging the AI Dashcam Plus into the vehicle adapter
- Identify the diagnostic port and make sure you have the correct cable for your vehicle.
- Plug the AI Dashcam Plus into the Vehicle Adapter.
- Connect the vehicle adapter to the Motive-provided cable.
- Connect the other end of the cable to your vehicle’s diagnostic port.
- Once done, tap Next on the Connect the vehicle adapter screen.
- This should power up the AI Dashcam Plus, and the right side LED on the AI Dashcam Plus should show solid blue after a few seconds of booting up.
- Do not mount the AI Dashcam Plus at this time to the windshield.
- Tap the current LED status option on Fleet App.
Selecting a mounting location
It is recommended to follow the FMCSA 49 CFR 393.60 guidelines when selecting the mounting location.
Top Mount (Recommended)
- Place the dashcam no more than 216 mm (8.5 inches) below the top edge of the area cleaned by the windshield wipers.
- Best position: right side, just behind the rearview mirror.
Bottom Mount (Alternative)
| Note: This is the recommended mounting location for vehicles with external metal sun visors/overhangs. |
- Place the dashcam no more than 175 mm (7 inches) above the bottom edge of the area cleaned by the windshield wipers.
| Note: Ensure the mounting location does not block the Driver’s view of the road or traffic signs. The lens is not blocked by the sun visors, rearview mirror, or shaded parts of the windshield. |
Testing a mounting location
- Hold the dashcam against the selected location with the cable running from the top.
- Set the camera angle
- Tighten the screw with the allen key and align the camera angle so that both the road and driver cameras remain visible.
- Tap Check camera view on the Test the mount location screen.
- The AI Dashcam Plus displays the camera view.
3. Mounting the AI Dashcam Plus
- Clean the mounting location with the provided wipes.
- Peel off the adhesive sticker from the mount.
- Attach the dashcam (dual lens side facing the road) and press firmly for 10+ seconds.
- Use cable clips to secure the cable.
- Once done, tap Next on the Mount the AI Dashcam Plus screen.
- Learn about the LED states and tap Continue.
- The physical installation is now completed, tap Finish.
Battery & Safety Warnings
- Do not replace the battery
- Avoid fire, high temperatures, and mechanical damage
- Low/high pressure or temperature may cause an explosion or a leak.
Common LED states of AI Dashcam Plus
The LED indicators on the AI Dashcam Plus display various statuses and provide visual alerts for unsafe driving behaviors.

Connectivity LED
AI Dashcam Alerts
When the AI Dashcam Plus notices unsafe driving (like speeding or using a phone), it warns the Driver right away using lights and sounds.
To turn on these in-cab alerts, go to the Motive Fleet Dashboard and enable the settings.
