Fleet View

The Fleet View page in the Motive Fleet App shows a real-time, interactive map of your entire fleet. It helps you monitor vehicles, drivers, and assets from anywhere. This guide explains how to use Fleet View to access details and manage your operations on the go. 

Overview 

The Fleet View page is the central hub of the Motive Fleet App. It offers the same visibility as the Motive Dashboard, but is optimized for your phone or tablet. Whether you're in the field or away from your desk, you can stay connected, make quick decisions, and keep your fleet running smoothly.

  • Live fleet tracking: See the real-time GPS location of all vehicles, drivers, and assets on one map.
  • Detailed entity information: Tap any vehicle, driver, or asset to view details like current status, trip history, and telematics data.
  • On-the-go management: Find the closest driver for a job, check a driver's remaining hours of service (HOS), or review dashcam footage—all from your mobile device.

Introduction to Fleet View 

Fleet View is the default home screen of the Motive Fleet App. It gives you a quick view of your fleet’s live operations. You can see an interactive map alongside a searchable list of all drivers, vehicles, and assets—making it easy to check your fleet’s status at a glance.

The Fleet App is part of the Motive platform and works smoothly with the Motive Dashboard. It ensures that fleet admins and managers have ongoing access to important information, so they can stay productive and manage their fleet from anywhere. The Motive Fleet App is available for both Android and iOS mobile devices and tablets.

Using the interactive map

The interactive map is the main feature of Fleet View, providing a dynamic and detailed look at your fleet’s real-time locations.

  1. View entities: See the live location of all your vehicles, drivers, and assets represented by icons on the map.
  2. Zoom and pan: Pinch to zoom in on specific areas or view individual entities. Drag the map to pan across regions.
  3. Search: Tap the search bar at the top to find a specific driver, vehicle, or asset by name or ID.
  4. Filter: Tap the Filter icon to customize the map and list view. You can filter by entity type (vehicles, drivers, assets), status, or group to narrow the displayed results.

Change Map Mode

You can adjust the map display in the Fleet App to suit your viewing preference.

  1. Log into the Fleet App and tap the Map Control icon on the map screen.

  2. Choose your preferred map mode:

    Type 

    • Light

    • Dark

    • Satellite

    Details 

    • Traffic

    Weather 

    • Precip

    • Temp 

    • Wind

  3. The map will update immediately based on your selection.

Viewing vehicle details 

You can access detailed information for any vehicle by tapping it on the interactive map or list view.
The detail view for vehicles includes:

  1. Status: The vehicle’s current operational state (e.g., moving, idling, stationary).
  2. Driver and asset: The connected driver and any paired asset. If no driver is connected, this will show as Unidentified.
  3. Location: The current or last known address of the vehicle.
  4. Telematics: Real-time data such as fuel level, odometer reading, engine hours, and active engine fault codes.

  1. Device information: Details about the assigned Vehicle Gateway.

From this screen, you can also view the trip history of a Vehicle:

  1. Log in to the Fleet App and select a Vehicle. 
  2. Tap Trip History to view the vehicle’s past trips.

You can also view images of a Vehicle connected to a Dashcam:

  1. Log in to the Fleet App and select a Vehicle.
  2. Tap Cameras to view recent images.

Viewing driver details

Access a driver's profile by searching for their name or tapping it from the map, list view, or a vehicle’s detail view.
The detail view for drivers includes:

  1. Driver details: View the driver ID and other profile information.
  2. Paired vehicle: View the vehicle the driver is currently connected to.
  3. Location and status: The driver’s current location, speed, and HOS status, including remaining drive time.
  4. Trip history: Review recent trips made by the driver.
  5. Driver Status: See the driver's Hours of Service and Available Hours.

  6. Safety score: See the driver’s current score and tap to view more details in the Safety page.
  7. Driver logs: Tap to view the driver’s HOS logs for compliance.
  8. Contact information: Call, text, or email the driver directly from the app.

Viewing asset details 

Select an asset from the map or list to open its detail view.
The detail view for assets includes:

  • Location: The asset’s current or last reported location.
  • Asset details: View the asset’s make, model, GVWR (gross vehicle weight rating), GAWR (gross axle weight rating), and the type of assigned Asset Gateway.
  • Battery: See the current battery level of the Asset Gateway.
  • Trip history: Tap to view recent trips made by the asset.

What is the difference between the Motive Fleet App and the Motive Driver App?

The Motive Fleet App is for fleet admins and managers to monitor and manage the entire fleet. The Motive Driver App is for drivers to track their hours of service (HOS), complete inspections, and manage daily tasks.

How often does the location update on the interactive map?

The Vehicle Gateway collects GPS data every 30 seconds, so you see near real-time updates when a vehicle is moving.

Can I see a driver's HOS clocks in the Fleet App?

Yes. Go to the driver’s detail view and tap on their logs or summary to see their current HOS clocks.

How do I contact a driver from the app?

In the driver’s detail view, tap contact driver to call, text, or email them directly from your mobile device.

Can I see trip history in the Fleet App?

Yes. The detail view for any driver, vehicle, or asset includes a Trip History page where you can view past trips and stops.
