The Device Hub provides a unified, standardized view of device status for Vehicle Gateways and AI Dashcams. This article explains how these statuses are determined and how they appear across different charts in the Overview page.
Overview
- The Device Hub standardizes seven main statuses to ensure consistent visibility and clarity across all devices. Each status reflects the operational state of the Vehicle Gateway and AI Dashcam, with supporting sub-statuses where applicable.
- On the Overview page, the vehicle-level status is calculated by combining the statuses of the Vehicle Gateway and Dashcam. A priority hierarchy determines which device status takes precedence, so the vehicle displays the most critical condition across all connected devices.
Device status by vehicle
| Main Status | Description |
| Normal | Displayed when both the Vehicle Gateway and Dashcam are connected to the vehicle and are in the Normal state. |
| Powered Off | Shown when either the Vehicle Gateway or Dashcam is connected to the vehicle and is powered off. |
| Install Issue | Shown when either the Vehicle Gateway or Dashcam connected to the vehicle has an installation issue. |
| Other Issues | The camera connected to the vehicle is not recording. |
| Return Device | Shown when either the Vehicle Gateway or Dashcam has a return authorization issued. These devices should no longer be used and must be returned to Motive. |
Why counts differ across charts
The Overview page shows three different pie charts, one each for Vehicles, Vehicle Gateways, and Cameras. Because these charts are calculated differently, the status counts may not always match exactly.
- Vehicle chart: Combines the statuses of the Vehicle Gateway and Dashcam based on a predefined priority order to show an overall vehicle status.
- Vehicle Gateways chart: Shows the status of each gateway device individually.
- Cameras chart: Shows the status of each dashcam individually.
As a result, if one vehicle’s vehicle gateway is Normal but its dashcam is Powered Off, the Vehicle Chart will show that vehicle as Powered Off, while the Vehicle Gateway and Camera charts will count each device separately under their respective statuses.
Why you might see different counts when clicking a status
When you click a Vehicle status in the Overview tab, it redirects to the Vehicles page. The Vehicles page applies filters based on device-level statuses rather than the combined vehicle-level status. As a result, the number of vehicles shown may differ (for example, 10 vehicles in the Overview tab vs. 15 in the Detail view).
