AI Dashcam Plus Lens Covers
AI Dashcam Plus lens covers are removable accessories that physically block one or both camera lenses on AI Dashcam Plus, giving fleets a hardware-level way to temporarily disable video capture without changing device settings or turning cameras off.
This helps fleets support driver privacy policies and special‑use scenarios where video recording is not allowed. For example, when a driver is sleeping in the cab or entering a location with strict privacy rules.
Available AIDC+ lens cover variants
AI Dashcam Plus dual lens cover (ACC-DC6X-LCDUAL) - This variant contains two lens covers in the box:
- Security cover to block both road-facing and driver-facing cameras for scenarios when no video should be recorded.
- Driver cover that blocks only the driver-facing camera to meet internal privacy policy standards.
AI Dashcam Plus road lens cover (ACC-DC6X-LCROAD) - This variant includes one removable cover that blocks only the road‑facing lens on AI Dashcam Plus. This cover is designed for scenarios when the driver needs to temporarily disable external video capture, such as in yards, private facilities, or locations where road‑facing footage is restricted.
AI Dashcam Plus lens cover usage
Using Security cover to disable both road-facing and driver-facing video
- Slide the cover onto AIDC+ from the side until it sits centered over both lenses.
- Confirm both lenses are fully hidden.
- Slide the cover off before driving when you want both lenses to record.
Using Driver lens cover
- Slide the driver cover onto the body so it clicks into place over the driver-facing lens.
- Confirm the road-facing lens remains unobstructed in the Fleet or Driver App.
- Remove the cover when in-cab video is needed again.
Using Road lens cover
- Slide the cover on until it fully blocks the road-facing lens.
- Use this in yards, private facilities, or other external‑privacy scenarios.
- Remove the cover and verify the road view in the app before resuming trips that require road video.
AI Dashcam Plus Mount Adapter
The AI Dashcam Plus Mount Adapter lets fleets attach AI Dashcam Plus to compatible third‑party mounts through the 1/4-20”, enabling flexible installations across a wide range of vehicles and regulatory environments. This allows fleets to move the same camera between vehicles without removing and reinstalling adhesive windshield mounts each time.
AI Dashcam Plus Suction Cup Mount
The AI Dashcam Plus Suction Cup Mount is a windshield suction mount designed for fast, temporary installation of the AI Dashcam Plus. It typically works in combination with the ¼"-20 Mount Adapter to attach AIDC+ to the suction hardware.

Assembling the Suction Cup Mount
- Remove the adhesive mount that was provided with AIDC+.
- Unscrew and remove the long Hinge Screw at the hinge connecting the adhesive mount and dashcam.
- Separate the adhesive mount from the dashcam and set the parts aside.
- Assemble the ¼”-20 Mount Adapter to the AIDC+ hinge.
- Insert the same long Hinge Screw into the hinge.
- Using the Allen Key (provided with AI Dashcam+), tighten the screw to the hinge.
- The angle of the ¼”-20 Mount Adapter can be adjusted later.
- Set the parts aside.
Note: Ensure the Motive logo is upright on the AI Dashcam Plus. The cable should exit from the right side of the device. Installing the hinge upside down will require reinstallation.
- Assemble the Medium Joiner to the Suction Cup. Either side of the Joiner will fit into the Suction Cup’s M20 threads.
Note: Ensure the suction lever will have sufficient clearance to fully lock once positioned against the windshield.
- Assemble the Camera Adapter to the other side of the Medium Joiner.
- Assemble the Suction Mount assembly to the AI Dashcam Plus.
- The Camera Adapter’s ¼” screw threads into the nut of the ¼”-20 Mount Adapter.
- Lock the lever of the Medium Joiner and torque all screw joints firmly.
- This will tighten all thread interfaces: Suction Cup to Medium Joiner, Medium Joiner to Camera Adapter, and Camera Adapter to the ¼"-20 Mount Adapter.
Note: Failure to torque all screw joints can lead to loosening during operation.
Selecting a mounting location
Note: We recommend the mounting location in accordance with the FMCSA 49 CFR 393.60 guidance. Our mounting position recommendations are not the same as legal advice. For legal guidance, seek independent legal counsel.
- Top mounting location (recommended): Position the dashcam not more than 216 mm (8.5 inches) below the upper edge of the area swept by the windshield wipers. For most vehicles, the optimal location is to install it on the right side just behind the rearview mirror.
- Ensure AI Dashcam Plus is outside of the driver’s sight lines to the road and highway signs and signals.
- Verify that the lens is not obstructed by the sun visors, the rearview mirror, or the windshield's shade sun strip.
- Bottom mounting location (alternative): Position the dashcam not more than 175 mm (7 inches) above the lower edge of the area swept by the windshield wipers
Testing a mounting location
- Hold the dashcam against the selected location with the cable running from the top.
- Adjust the camera
- Determine the desired location and orientation of the Suction Mount.
- Make necessary adjustments to the AI Dashcam Plus for clearer images if required. Tap Refresh All to display the updated images.
Mounting the AI Dashcam Plus with Suction Cup Mount
- Assembling the Suction Mount to the windshield
- Once the desired mounting position is identified, using an alcohol swab, clean the windshield at the desired mounting location, then allow the surface to dry completely.
- Remove the white protective liner from the Suction Cup’s rubber surface. If the white liner has already been removed, use the alcohol swab to clean the rubber surface.
- Press the suction cup to the windshield and lock the lever on the Suction Cup to secure the assembly in place.
- Notice that the Joiner may need to be repositioned in order to allow the Suction Cup’s lever the clearance to swing to its locking position.
Note: If the lever cannot fully lock, reposition the joiner slightly to provide clearance. The suction cup must be fully secured before proceeding to angle adjustments
- Adjust the Joiner to the desired position.
- Unlock the Medium Joiner.
- Adjust the angle of the Medium Joiner’s ball joints until the desired position is achieved.
- Lock the Medium Joiner.
Note: Ensure the horizon appears level. The upper joint angles toward the windshield, and the lower joint angles toward the driver's compartment. Once the desired angle is achieved, lock the Medium Joiner. Ensure the joiner arm is not obstructing the camera views.
- To route the cable, tuck the cable behind the A-pillar or headliner, and secure it using the provided cable clips to secure the dashcam cable around the edge of the windshield. Excess cable should be neatly bundled and secured under the dashboard or along trim edges.
- Installation is complete. Remember, if you would like to remove the camera while you are off-duty, you can easily do so by unlocking the suction cup and unplugging the cable.
