    Installation Guide: AI Dashcam Plus

    What’s in the Box

    • DC63-NA.01 (road facing) or DC64-NA.01 (dual facing)
    • Alcohol wipes
    • Cable clips & ties
    • Vehicle adapter
    • L-Key (Allen key)
    • Pin-hole reset key

    Steps: Installing AI Dashcam Plus

    1. Connect the AI Dashcam Plus
    2. Plug the AI Dashcam Plus into the Vehicle Adapter
    3. Select a mounting location
    4. Test Mounting Location
    5. Mount the Dashcam
    6. Battery and Safety Warning

    Note: Before starting the installation, ensure the following:

    1. The parking brake is engaged.
    2. The engine is off.
    3. The main power switch (if available) is turned off.

     

    Connect the AI Dashcam Plus

    1. The AI Dashcam Plus supports the following ports: RP1226, OBD-II, and J1939 (9-pin)
    • The diagnostic port location may vary depending on the vehicle. Refer to the images for the different locations for OBD-II, RP1226, and J1939.
    • Typical locations for the diagnostic port are:
      • Driver’s side footwell
      • Beneath the center console
      • Under the dashboard near the steering column
      • Near the fuse box

     



    Plug the AI Dashcam Plus into the Vehicle Adapter

    1. Identify the diagnostic port and make sure you have the correct cable for your vehicle.

    2. Plug the AI Dashcam Plus into the Vehicle Adapter

    3. Connect the vehicle adapter to the Motive-provided cable.

    4. Connect the other end of the cable to your vehicle’s diagnostic port.

    5. This should power up the AI Dashcam Plus, and the right side LED on the AI Dashcam Plus should show solid blue after a few seconds of booting up.

    6. Don’t mount the AI Dashcam Plus at this time to the windshield.

    Select a mounting location

    It is recommended to follow the FMCSA 49 CFR 393.60 guidelines when selecting the mounting location.

    Top Mount (Recommended)

    • Place the dashcam no more than 216 mm (8.5 inches) below the top edge of the area cleaned by the windshield wipers.
    • Best position: right side, just behind the rearview mirror.

    Bottom Mount (Alternative)

    • Place the dashcam no more than 175 mm (7 inches) above the bottom edge of the area cleaned by the windshield wipers.
    Note: Mounting location does not block the driver’s view of the road or traffic signs. The lens is not blocked by the sun visors, rearview mirror, or shaded parts of the windshield.

     

    Test Mounting Location

    1. Hold the dashcam against the selected location with the cable running from the top.

    1. Set the camera angle.
    2. Tighten the screw with the allen key and align the camera angle so that both the road and driver camera remain visible.

    1. Log in to Motive Fleet App and Tap Devices.
    2. In Devices, tap the arrow next to Vehicle Gateway.

    1. Search by serial number.

    1. Select your Vehicle Gateway and check the dashcam feed.
    2. Adjust the view as needed.

    1. Tap Refresh to display the updated images.

    Mount the Dashcam

    1. Clean the mounting location with the provided wipes.

    2. Peel off the adhesive sticker from the mount.

    3. Attach the dashcam (dual lens side facing the road) and press firmly for 10+ seconds.

    4 Use cable clips to secure the cable.

     

    Battery and Safety Warnings

    • Do not replace the battery
    • Avoid fire, high temperatures, and mechanical damage
    • Low/high pressure or temperature may cause an explosion or a leak.

     

    Common LED states of AI Dashcam Plus

    The LED indicators on the AI Dashcam Plus display various statuses and provide visual alerts for unsafe driving behaviors.

    AI Dashcam Alerts

    When the AI Dashcam Plus notices unsafe driving (like speeding or using a phone), it warns the Driver right away using lights and sounds.

    To turn on these in-cab alerts, go to the  Motive Fleet Dashboard and enable the settings.
