Overview

Motive offers a variety of cables for connecting the AI Dashcam Plus. 

  • Heavy Duty Vehicles: Supports vehicles like Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliner Cascadia, and International. 
  • Light Duty Vehicles: Supports vehicles like Ford, GM, Mercedes, Chrysler, Hyundai, Fiat, Citroen, Peugeot, Volkswagen, and Audi. 
  • Specialty Vehicles: Supports vehicles like Volvo, Mack, and Freightliner. 

Cables for Heavy-Duty Vehicles (J1939 / RP1226)

Cable VCBL-Y-1939: 9-Pin J1939 Y-Cable

Heavy-duty Y-cable for vehicles with J1939 9-pin (Type 1 & Type 2) diagnostic ports. Supports Direct Connection and Y-cable installations with multiple mounting clips.

Note: Attach the appropriate mounting clip on the connector (P3) - match up the colored line with the white line on the connector

Cable VCBL-Y-1226: RP1226 Cable

Y-cable designed for vehicles with RP1226 telematics ports. Supports Direct Connection and Y-cable installations using the dedicated telematics connector to help preserve vehicle warranty.

Cables for Light-Duty Vehicles (OBD-II)

Cable VCBL-Y-OBD2: OBD-II Y-Cable

Y-cable for vehicles with OBD-II diagnostic ports. Supports Direct Connection and Y-cable installations with brand-specific mounting brackets.

Note: Select the mounting bracket that matches your vehicle’s OBD-II diagnostic port. Ensure the spare diagnostic connector (P3) is securely attached to the compatible bracket for proper fit and stability.

Specialty Cables 

Cable VCBL-D-VOLMC: Volvo (2013-2018) and Volvo/Mack (2019+) Cable

Direct-connect cable for Volvo (2013–2018) and Volvo/Mack (2019+) vehicles. Connects to the J1939 bus and vehicle power using a terminating resistor.

Example: Volvo Truck VAH (2020), Mack Anthem (2019)

Cable VCBL-D-MACK: Mack (2013–2018) Cable

Direct-connect cable for Mack (2013–2018) vehicles. Uses ring terminals and a terminating resistor for J1939 and a power connection.

Example: Mack Pinnacle (2017), Mack CXU (2016)

Cable VCBL-D-FRGHT: Freightliner (2017+) Cable

Direct-connect cable for Freightliner (2017+) trucks. Connects to the J1939 250K CAN network and vehicle power splice packs.

Note: Always use the recommended cable for compatibility and warranty protection.
WARNING: For vehicles that may operate in the State of California, regulations may prohibit the installation of any Y-cable configuration if it involves relocating the in-vehicle diagnostic port. If the vehicle may be operated in California, ensure the installation does not relocate the diagnostic port.
