Pre-troubleshooting checklist
Before troubleshooting, check the following:
- Confirm the Driver App version is up to date:
- Tap the three lines in the top left corner.
- Scroll down to the Logout button.
- Make sure the app version listed is the latest available version.
- Ensure the Vehicle Gateway is powered on:
- The large Alert LED below and to the right of the motive logo, and under the button, should be a steady blue.
- Ensure Bluetooth is on your phone/tablet.
- Please ensure that you’re using a supported device from this list.
- Ensure that AI Dashcam Plus has been installed as per this guide.
Pairing AI Dashcam Plus with the Driver App: Troubleshooting Steps
If the AI Dashcam Plus pairing or connection to the Driver App still fails, follow the steps listed below:
- Give the device 30–60 seconds to appear in the vehicle list in the Motive driver mobile app and try again.
- Please refer to Connect/pair a mobile device to the Vehicle Gateway in the Motive Driver App. It will not show up in the System BLE list displayed in Settings > Bluetooth scanned devices list.
- Confirm Vehicle Name Visibility in Vehicle list. S/N won’t be shown anywhere; please check for the vehicle name in the vehicle list.
- Kill the application and relaunch it:
- iOS
- From the recent applications, kill the application and reopen it.
- Android
- From the recent applications, kill the application and reopen it.
- Go to Settings > Apps > and scroll down the list to Motive Driver App.
- Tap Storage > Clear Data/ Clear Cache.
- If none of these steps work, restart the mobile device and reopen the Motive Driver App.
- Check other Bluetooth connections. Ensure the phone isn’t connected to another device that could block pairing.
- Re-enable Bluetooth. Turn Bluetooth off and then turn it ON again.
- Verify app permissions. Allow Bluetooth (and Location, if requested) for the Motive Driver App.

- Go to Settings > Apps. Scroll down to Motive Driver app > App Permissions > Location.

- Go to Settings and scroll down to Motive Driver App in the list.
- In the Allow Motive Driver to Access settings, make sure Bluetooth is turned on

- Location
- Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services.
- Go to Settings and scroll down to Motive Driver App in the list. In the Allow Motive Driver to Access settings, make sure Location is turned on.

- Try a different device. Use another phone/tablet to rule out device-specific issues.
- If the Vehicle Gateway Connectivity LED (looking down) is red or the device still does not connect, contact Motive support for further assistance.
