Collision Evidence Capture detects and reads license plates from dashcam footage during supported events. This information is displayed alongside event videos to help fleets identify vehicles involved in collisions.
Overview
Collision Evidence Capture enables fleets to identify vehicles involved in collision and near collision events by automatically detecting and reading license plates from dashcam footage.
Collision Evidence Capture helps fleets:
- Capture critical evidence: Identifies license plates in collision events
- Support claims and exoneration: Provides reliable vehicle identification for insurance and legal use cases
- Improve incident visibility: Surfaces license plate information directly alongside event footage
Collision Evidence Capture is powered by the AI Dashcam Plus (AIDC+) road-facing (RF)-Zoom camera and is automatically applied to supported events.
How Collision Evidence Capture works
Collision Evidence Capture processes high-resolution dashcam footage to detect and read license plates from vehicles involved in a collision event.
When Collision Evidence Capture runs
Collision Evidence Capture runs on RF-Zoom video for:
- Collision events
- Near Collision events
What the camera records
The RF-Zoom camera captures:
- High-resolution video (1440p).
- Optimized footage for clarity during motion and low-light conditions.
This allows license plates to be readable even at speed.
What happens during processing
For each collision event:
- Vehicles in the video are detected.
- License plates are identified and read.
- Plate data is linked to event details such as time and location.
What you see in the Fleet Dashboard
On the event detail page, Collision Evidence Capture information is displayed alongside the event video.
You can view:
- The RF-Zoom event video
- A Detected vehicles section showing:
- License plate image
- License plate text
- State information
- Profile attributes- make, model, color and body type for Collision Evidence Capture.
Hovering over detected vehicles highlights them in the video for easier identification.
Where Collision Evidence Capture is available
